You owe money. Possibly student loans - TipMake fun of them next time they call you. It's funny how they get mad. Just adjust your taxes so you don't contribute more to taxes, and all they can do is garnish your wages, but fill out the form saying where your money goes a month then they leave you alone.
I've made a collections lady from there so mad she transferred me to another company now DCS is calling me now after charging me 1/4 of the amount of the loan was interest.- Caller: DCS

- lily| 4 repliesI got a call from this number but didn't answer and decided to look it up. A collection agency? I don't have any student loans, or any debt for that matter. WTF?
- CJ| 4 repliesOnce again our household received a call and no message from the "people" at this number in Oregon. We have been debt free for more than 20 years and this includes a monthly zero credit card balance. We will now report this number to those in our attorney's general office who handle this type of commercial harrassment and extortion; from the posts it is clear that a pervasive problem exists and needs investigation. If you're called, do not answer this number (unless you clearly have an issue with them); make them leave a message and a footprint and do NOT communicate with them; write-down the time, date and content of the message left; also request from your carrier a phone bill showing "incoming" call numbers so you have proof of time and date, most carriers will provide incoming numbers. Remember: these guys have money, and under the right circumstances some of it can be yours if you do your homework.

- CI have been called by this number numerous times. I know it is DCS and I know it is for me personally. However, when attempted to call back and rectify the situation, i was given the run around. Told that all the supervisors that could possibly help me, and the entire department which I was wanting to contact, were ALL AT LUNCH! I was on the phone with these people for over an hour being transferred here, there and everywhere, often ending in a voicemail at the end of it, promising to call me back asap. I was NEVER called back and only able to talk to a real human being, not an operator, after reporting certain operators to their supervisor (who was, of course, at lunch as well). They then offered me a bogus deal to rectify my situation.
Do NOT deal with these people if they call you, esp if you dont have a debt to settle with them. They are rude and harassing - and from what I have been learning about the company themselves, have pathetic business praticies, an unsatisfactory rating with the BBB ( in Cali.) and numerous personal and class action lawsuits filed against them for harassment, amongst other things!

- kbMarch 9, 2009 3:27 am I recieved a call at my work place with the correct name but wrong last name. I am of a different ethnicity so if they have a wrong last name why would I correct them. It's a totally different last name then mine. The first letter of the last name was not even close at all. Now they want to talk to the supervisor. What the F**K.... What does this have to do with my supervisor. First of all. I have no freak loans or debit that I have not paid. I have been update with all bills. So where the heck did they get my freak work number and want to even talk to my supervisor. Who the heck are these people. Not to mention very rude.

- Thomas replies to mEAdvice ! report this to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) website (file complaint ) make sure you give the number they called from and what was said . you have rights . dont give the caller personal info. collectors sometimes break the law if they are legit.
- Workaholic| 1 replyThey called my business and told me I have an outstanding student loan from 2007. I have been employed full time since 1985 and have not had a student loan. They would not give me any information pertaining to the account. They said I needed to provide them with my information i.e. ss#, address, phone # and a receipt of my payoff. I said I wouldn't give out my info to them & I told them I never had a student loan. They keep calling everyday. Is this a SCAM? Report them!

Diversified is one of several third party CA's the Government contracts with to collect on defaulted student loans. In your case, they obviously have the wrong person.
Here's how to get rid of them:
Send them this letter VIA certified mail (with return receipt requested) demanding validation of the debt they are calling about:
Today's Date
Your Name
Your Address
Collector's Name
Collector's Address
VIA CERTIFIED MAIL
Dear {insert name of collector or company},
I am writing in response to your (letter or phone call) dated {insert date}, (copy enclosed) because I do not believe I owe what you say I owe.
This is the first I've heard from you, or any other company on this matter therefore, in accordance with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, Section 809(b): Validating Debts:
(b) If the consumer notifies the debt collector in writing within the thirty-day period described in subsection (a) that the debt, or any portion thereof, is disputed, or that the consumer requests the name and address of the original creditor, the debt collector shall cease collection of the debt, or any disputed portion thereof, until the debt collector obtains verification of the debt or any copy of a judgment, or the name and address of the original creditor, and a copy of such verification or judgment, or name and address of the original creditor, is mailed to the consumer by the debt collector.
I respectfully request that you provide me with the following information:
(1) the amount of the debt;
(2) the name of the creditor to whom the debt is owed;
(3) Provide a verification or copy of any judgment (if applicable);
(4) Proof that you are licensed to collect debts in (insert name of your state)
Be advised that I am fully aware of my rights under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and the Fair Credit Reporting Act. For instance, I know that:
because I have disputed this debt in writing within 30 days of receipt of your dunning notice, you must obtain verification of the debt or a copy of the judgment against me and mail these items to me at your expense;
you cannot add interest or fees except those allowed by the original contract or state law.
you do not have to respond to this dispute but if you do, any attempt to collect this debt without validating it, violates the FDCPA;
Also be advised that I am keeping very accurate records of all correspondence from you and your company including recording all phone calls and I will not hesitate to report violations of the law to my State Attorney General, the Federal Trade Commission and the Better Business Bureau.
I have disputed this debt; therefore, until validated you know your information concerning this debt is inaccurate. Thus, if you have already reported this debt to any credit-reporting agency (CRA) or Credit Bureau (CB) then, you must immediately inform them of my dispute with this debt. Reporting information that you know to be inaccurate or failing to report information correctly violates the Fair Credit Reporting Act § 1681s-2. Should you pursue a judgment without validating this debt, I will inform the judge and request the case be dismissed based on your failure to comply with the FDCPA.
Finally, if you do not own this debt, I demand that you immediately send a copy of this dispute letter to the original creditor so they are also aware of my dispute with this debt.

- MailiI called the number back to see who they were, and I get "Kelly" who wants my social number in order to help me. Then she wants my cell number. I din't give her either one. If I owe something then it should be able to be found under my name. She was not willing to look anything up by name and became very rude when I refused to give her any numbers. By the way I have never had any student loans and my kids are still in high school. They need customer service training, and a valid listing.

- GeniemarluWe received a phone call yesterday,May 12. out of the blue. Firstly we don't have any debts. However it wasn't about that. Apparently my name was given to them as a reference to a lady we have never heard of.
BRAD MADISON was the caller and was not able to tell us what kind of business he was in, said only, he's on the west coast !!! He then said he had phoned our house and received my cell phone number from my husband on a certain day. The day and time he mentioned nobody was in the house and my husband would never give my cellphone number to anybody!
Very weird. I think they are trying to do other business than collections. What, we have no idea, but we have recorded the call.
Be careful, there's something very wrong here. It's about personal info. - anthreedmy partner was at home this morning and recived a call from this number, letting us know that they were trying to reach our neighbor, Mr. Nut [who? seriously? maybe ... Mr. P. Nut? HAH!] and asking us if we could knock on his door, since his phone seems to have become disconnected. Um, we don't know you, we don't him and don't how you got this number. So shag off, you abusive blood-sucking bottom-feeders. WE don't owe you anything - money, information, or the time it takes to talk to you on the phone - so quit harassing us!

- B.B.OMG, So just five minutes ago I get a call asking about someone that lives next door to me. Then when I say if its an emergency I can deliver a message, they say no thank you. They don't want to disturb me. UMM You already called me about some strangers, don't you think I'm disturbed! So what is the deal? Debt collectors or scammers??
