getaway - 7 Feb 2008I am not sure why they are calling because they won’t tell me who I am spouse to be in debt to. They did call my house and tell my minor daughter that they were old friend of mind and needed to talk to about some important and she gave them my cell # they call me on my cell now.

laprns - 4 Sep 2008They do lie to whoever answers the phone. My best friend answered while I was showering and "megan" told her that she and I were college room-mates and she had been trying to track me down. Wanted my cell # and even got upset and made sarcastic remarks about how often I am away. I am now recording my calls. Not sure I should answer any more though since she is seriously trying my patience.

Sue 'em - 13 Jun 2008To all who have had calls from Diversified Collection Services, if you can, get a petition up, get as many signatures as you can, even from people who have not had dealings with this company, but have been harassed by other agencies. Send the petitions to your state attorney general's office and a copy to the Federal Trade Commission. They will take it from there. This company has had over 842 complaints against them but they have managed to get away with their unfair debt practices. If everyone comes together, you might be able to put them out of business. Seems like in 2002, DCS was one of eight corporations accused of giving a total of $190,000 to Texans for a Republican Majority legislative campaign. Bet you it was money that they harassed people out of.

They knew my first and last name, and the operator stated her name and that she was from Texas. She wanted to know if I heard of or knew someone by the name of Michael Sheer. And if I did, could I tell her how to get a hold of him. I said I know of no such person and I don't.
I hung up the phone, but how odd.....who or what is this company, how the heck did they get my name and number and why would they think I know this person. Toooooooo odd. I don't like it at all.

jl - 13 Feb 2008Similar story. Called about a neighbor. Called me by name as if a friend. Wanted to know if I knew them. I told them no. Then asked if they could leave a message for them if I ran into them. I told them I was not a message service. Found them calling me strange since I have a unlisted number. I will be reporting them to the Oregon State Attorney.

Steve 972 - 19 Feb 2008Debt Collection Services Inc in California. This is there Oregon branch office. Since I'm in Florida I can just sue then in small claims court, harassment is illegal from a debt collector here and you are allowed to sue for up to $1000 plus attorney fees. See

Pooh Bear - 20 Feb 2008i have had 56 calls from these pests ...i won't answer the phone and they don't leave a message. i did talk to them a couple of times when they first started calling about a debt for a student loan. I became 100% dis-abled and live from paycheck to paycheck (ssi)since 1992. i have tried for 16 yrs to have this loan forgiven and to no avail. The ammount of the loan was 4557. now they claim i owe 9467. thats alot of Blood from a Turnip..hahaha

AJL - 3 Jul 2008If you have submitted all of the paperwork from your doctor saying that you are totally and permanently disabled and will never be able to work at any job for the rest of your life, and DCS, Inc has found that you are not eligible to have your debt forgivin, you have to pay it! Your signature is on a legal binding contract promising to pay back the student loan that, as you say , is at least 16 years old. Your debt will continue to increase until you pay it. New legislation has been passed where the Department of Education or whoever you owe the money to, can garnish your SSI. You owe this money to the government and receive government funds each month! Wow, you shouldn't be getting anything at all. If I was you, I would contact them and try to work out some type of payment plan to protect yourself from garnishment or lawsuit. Taxpayers are the ones who take the hit when people do not pay their student loans. When did vegetables learn to use a p.c.?

Annoyed - 21 Feb 2008Today I received a call from DCS Inc. (1-541-956-88220 and the woman on the line was asking me about one of my neighbors. I can't believe this is legal. I'm sure my neighbors do not want me to know their personal business, and I sure as heck don't want them to know mine, unless I tell them myself. At first, I wasn't sure that it was a bill collector, but once the girl got going I knew by the way she was talking and asking questions.

There is a phone listed as 541-955-9606 Although they ave not answered that number before (9 Am ). They Also do not identify themselves when calling. Only asking if you are Mr or Mrs Or Ms ( someone ) demanding that you identify yourself prior to them identifying themselves.
