Received call from Alan Cadda (sp) from Dept of Legal Affairs re:  action being taken against me by US Treasury.  Caller said I needed to contact him  immediately to remedy potential legal action against me by Dept of Treasury.  If I don't "messy" legal action will begin.

I received the same message with the same exact information!

I also recieved a call from this number and they threatened to send me to jail if I didn't take care of this matters.

Stop calling!!!

We got the same call also, on it was from "Mark Anderson."

If the IRS is gunning for you, this isn't how they do it.  They will send you a letter in the mail.

Got the same call saying they were going to house to pick up my (restarted) daughter for not paying taxes! So scared. Thank you for posting... Withdrew any money from my account and almost paid them. Read tese posts about same exact experience!

What did you do about the call?  Did you report it to the FBI or anything?

I received the same call!!  Mark Anderson, department Legal Affairs US Treasury....Said to have my lawyers contact them!  Its a scam!

Do consider maybe getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $50.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.

Same man called about my Down Syndrome brother & "tax evasion". Will also report to IRS.

I did made a report because when I told him he better come to my house himself that I would have my gun waiting for him he said the cops would be there soon to arrest me and [***] me in the [***]

got a message on my machine from mark anderson today, from the dept. of legal affairs ...  really strong accent, could hardly understand him. have my lawyer  call to avoid messy legal action.  last week got 2 calls within 3 hrs from the IRS , recorded voice, about back taxes, call this # to avoid coming to my house, etc...

My parents just received a phone call from them too.. what do they think we are some type of idiots.

Just got the same call for my adult son who hasnt lived here for years. Very strong accent and he had to calll twice and leave a message because he seemed to keep screwing up the script he was reading.

Got the same call for 2nd time.  Husband told him to go ahead with legal proceedings. He surely doesn't sound like his real name could be Mark Anderson, more like Raj from Big Bang Theory.

Got the same call a couple of times this week.  Same guy with Indian accent using different names.  John Edwards was the latest.    If he calls back I will mess with him.

Got this message too!   Ask them where they are at and them what time it is.....they usually say Washington DC but can't tell you the time. .....such a scam!

Total scam.  Originates in either India or Pakistan.

I'm an Enrolled Agent with the IRS (inactive).  IRS does not file lawsuits.   Court action, if any is handled by the DOJ and all parties are entitled to legal assistance if it is a criminal matter.  But--tax disputes are for the most part civil matters.  90% of all IRS tax disputes are settled administratively.  IRS has absolutely no authority to call on local law enforcement for anything. Local law is never involved in IRS tax disputes.   If LE is necessary, US Marshals do the job.  IRS does not cold call anyone and ask for money. No one is prosecuted for ordinary tax disputes.  All determinations of tax liability are subject to appeals.  All  contacts by the IRS are initiated by US mail.

Be careful.  Take care, these people hit you once and they sure going to try to hit you again.  Anybody who cold calls you and asks for money for something like governmental taxes or fees,  is perpetrating a scam in most cases.
