The call came from the Fresno County Jail

I received a call yesterday evening from the same number and it was some guy calling collect, worst part is..... I don't know who the hell it was. How did he get my number???? It beats the hell out of me

SPAM....they are using cell app that makes it appear as anyone or any busness you like....app is called fake call.you can enter brad pit as the caller if u want...recording acts like its from county jail....recording from inmate says your name plus ITS IMPORTANT I NEED TO TALK TO YOU....bets are they will ask for money for bail or other type of scam....DONT BOTHER ANSWERING. IF U DO..CALLS WONT STOP...TRUST ME, ITS NOT FROM FRESNO COUNTY JAIL....TURN THEM INTO ONLINE FBI COMPLAINT SITE.

This number IS the FRESNO COUNTY JAIL number that inmates call from. If you know someone that is incarcerated in this jail and they have your phone number they are trying to reach you.  Whether you accept the collect call or not is up to you. That bogus rant about it being some sort of spam trap is hilarious. Calm down people everything is not a conspiracy or fraudulent!

The fact that it's the real number for that facility has no bearing on this. The number (and the ID possibly) are probably being faked by the caller. People have said they don't know anyone in jail: why would those people get the calls?

Scammers are trying to be very clever about cheating people out of their money.

Calls come from (supposedly) long-lost relatives/grandchildren, etc., who are in some kind of trouble either here or abroad, and they need cash to get out of it. There are scores of such reports on this site.
