- Anon| 1 replyForeign call center, calling about blood thinner medicine. Grr.. got to love the scams!
- Caller: medical place
- Call type: Telemarketer
- Doreen Williams| 3 repliesI have asked them several times to remove me from their calling list. They argue with me every time saying I need to just give them a minute. How can you be on the do-not-call registry and still get these calls?
- Call type: Telemarketer
- Phyllis McKownI received a call from this number--I'm on the do not call list.
- SjcForeign man first asking questions about blood thinners then anti nausea medicine called Zofran. I did use Zofran during my pregnancy and he asked me questions about my child's birth, then abruptly said "take care" and hung up on me when I asked the reason for his call! What the hell!
- Caller: 15595728100
- Rumana IslamI just got the call from this number. Asked me first whether I ever used blood thinner, when I declined he moved on to another medication and kept moving on to different medications as I kept declining using any of those medicine!!
- Anon559-572-8100: Foreign (Indian) accent. Claimed to be from "Texas State Health Dept" and asked about "blood thinning medications." Hung up on me as soon I as started asking him for information.
- CraigI suspect this is fallout from the BCBS hack. Just hang up. Do not answer anything and report to FTC.
- notsojollyNot fallout from BCBS. I am in no way affiliated with BCBS but got the spam/scam call this AM. Heavily accented female caller, not answered but the message was several bewildered "Hello" ... with other heavy accented and call center type background noise.
- Caller: unknown spam/scam
- Just Curious... replies to Doreen Williams| 1 replyAnd how do you know that the "do-not-call registry" really exists? Oh, wait...it was created by our government, and they always tell us the truth. ;) (What a convenient way to match names to phone numbers, eh? - Think pre-paid. Not so anonymous when you disclose the owner's name, is it?)
- Sherando girlThis person was very persistant but hung up when I started getting rude..
- DennisWasn't home. Saw this on the IDer. No message of course, from the others, above, is proves, just another scam.
- Caller: ???
- Cindy| 2 repliesGot a call from 559-572-8100 9:30 am july 4.. I said hello and they hung it.. not the first time. I too, am on the do not call list. I don't believe that list is real.
- Slim replies to Cindy>> I don't believe that list is real. <<
It is more real than is your graduation certificate.
Let me ask a question in return.
What do YOU think the DNC list is supposed to do?
No fair reading the rest of this post before you answer!
The DNC list does not automatically block calls. Instead, it provides a list of "do not call" phone numbers to legitimate telemarketers who pay a fee for the list.
The DNC list exempts political callers, survey organizations, charities, companies with preexisting business relationships, and some other organizations (such as debt collectors), but these organizations might have their own, internal Do Not Call list (ask them).
The DNC list is not effective against criminals, spammers and scammers, because those people do not subscribe to the DNC list, and do not care if you are on or off that list.
It can stop calls from legitimate telemarketers, and it does a pretty good job at that.
Here is your reading assignment:

Modern technology has given telescammers the tools to call you.
Since those telescammers are criminals, they ignore both the Do Not Call list and any request you might make.
Modern technology can also protect you, if YOU do a few simple things!
The first thing to do is buy a call blocker device, service or app.
Then, use it correctly.
Google "call blocker" for more information.
If you cannot afford or use such a tool, then:
* Do not answer calls from unknown numbers ... let them go to voicemail or answering service
* Do NOT return calls from unknown numbers! All that does is verify your phone number! And, in some cases, those return calls may cost $20 or more to complete.
* If you have a "dumb" cell phone, assign the scammer's number to a group named "scam" (or similar). Then, assign a silent ringtone to that group. - cjjoHere it is July 4th and I just received a call from a male with a foreign accent stating that he was calling from the State Board of Health. Right! - what a dummy. Guess he didn't know that today is Saturday and a Federal Holiday.
- CWG40 replies to Doreen WilliamsWell, the DNC list is for law-abiding telemarketers. The people calling you are basically criminals. The DNC will not stop criminals or scofflaws. You should invest in a call blocker. Not perfect, but it can help.
- JayMar| 1 replyI got call from this number at 8:45AM...heavy accent also from "State Board of Health"...I never gave him the chance to go further as it screamed into the phone like a mad lion...and hung up. That's the key...HANG UP !
- Call type: Telemarketer
- JAYMAR ADDENDUM replies to JayMar"I screamed into the phone like a mad lion and hung up." Sorry for the typos. I get 4-5 calls like this daily, the DNC list must be for only the honest...
Sometimes, just to yank their chains, like the Foreign Ministers of Finance that want to send me $6.5 million...yeah, sure...I try and sound real interested, give them all information, bank account routing and account numbers, SocSec number, say my "Trust Fund Officer" will only let me have $1000/week and I really could use the money...
ALL THAT INFO I GAVE IS FAKE MADE-UP BS...THEN I HANG UP. - Jmor| 2 repliesJust received a call asking questions about my use of zig ran, bladder mesh. Asking my surgical hX . Etc.
Argumentative said he was from the U.S. Health dept. promising me compensation. - Smitty replies to Jmor| 1 reply...argumentative government employee seeking personal information?
That's all you need to know. No government employees are 'argumentative' in dealing with the public, for long - you can't keep your job operating outside the policies that simply don't permit that. Plus, governments don't seek or deliver information over the phone unless it's some emergency response.
This is fraudulent! Don't answer this caller. - Jdoe replies to SmittyThey dont follow the "do not call rules," because they are not calling from the USA. They are foreign scams...aparently so stupid to realize that all government entities are closed besides things that project our nation security. The are trying to trick you into giving them information about you. Dont call back or answer.
