- Darlene Poch| 2 repliesI get a call everyday from phone number 561-401-0188 states I have a virus and flags on my computer with windows. I called Microsoft to report this have a case number. The company he stated was www.itechalert.Microsoft said they are not affiliated with that company. When he called he wanted access to my computer. Be carefull.
- Rob| 1 replyMy wife got a similar call from the same number. She told him to send us an email. No email was received.
- watch out replies to Robjust got a call from a man saying his name was Peter Franco, with same phone # who wanted access to my computer to clean up the bugs. he somehow knew I had a PC , said he was a microsoft 35 technician, and he noticed a lot of error reports on my computer. ( he was right about those things) he wanted to guide me in the "right direction" looking for bad files.
He sounded like he could have been from india with a foreign accent. I told him not now and asked for his name and phone number saying I will call him back later. Yes, be careful. - BillReceived same type of call today from same number. This is the third time they have called in one month. Definitely a scam. Did same procedure wanting access. Said it was a windows computer that is sending the flags. Interesting that he could not tell "which" computer was sending flags. They are very persistent. No problem. I never grant access to anyone. So I just hang up on them. I would recommend to anyone.... never let anyone have access to your computer !!!!!! When you get this type of call, just hang up. It is very easy. That way you are safe, and your computer is safe.

- MCI've been getting calls from these people for weeks now, maybe months. They are persistent and won't stop calling us. I also asked "which PC" and the caller could not say. I haven't tried working with them to find out what they are trying to accomplish but don't think they have my best interest in mind. The last caller said his name was Brett Taylor; yeah, right. Like the others have said, just hang up.
- Caller: www.itechalerts.com
- KarenBI just received a message from this same number telling me I had problems with my computer and not to access my email or any account. said his name was Eric Carter from Itechalert at Microsoft. I asked for his phone number and told him I'd get back to him. Difficult to understand him...sounded like he was from India. very persistant. I hung up and googled this number.
- S.K.WHITEThis is a SCAM to get your computer information. A friend of mine went along with them and ended up with all types of problems with his computer and his personal information. They say that your phone number is linked to your IP number however they have called me on a phone that is only linked to my address. They always say that they have received a report that my computer is vulnerable...that my firewall is not protecting my computer...etc. They also say that they work for Microsoft Windows. I have requested that they stop calling and take me off their call list. The law states that once you make this request they are supposed to remove your name and phone number. I took down their number and will be contacting Microsoft about their claim.

for a big amount of money. They were very convincing and it sounded like my computer was in
big jeopardy. Now I will have to see what can be done to correct the problem.- Caller: itecalert
- Call type: Telemarketer
- Tamianth replies to RootherYou need to file fraud with your bank or CC holder. Also with your LE, and the FTC & CFB.
As for your computer, make sure your antivirus is on, run it, and get malware bytes and run it. Change all your passwords every place you have one and on your computer. You can bet they stole any and all info off your computer.
One important thing to remember if these losers have any of your personal information such as your social security number, date of birth or drivers license make sure you register with identity protection notify the credit agencies as well as your banks!!

http://www.net-security.org/secworld.php?id=13376 - Tim Kind| 2 repliesThe CALLER ID shows "850-210-3300".
I've had these guys call here before. They never give up. So, this time I played it straight and asked for a call back number.
The number he gave me was "561-401-0188".
Always the same saying that he was from Microsoft and that they'd noticed I had downloaded a virus/malware into my computer. I always ask them for my computer name but they can never give me that.
I actually had them call me last week. I figured out it was a scam and told them so. I got very abusive with the guy (just for fun) and he took my abuse for a while until he finally gave up and hung up. But they still keep trying.
How can we stop this? - Larry H replies to Tim Kind| 1 replyI got the call THIS MORNING, shortly AFTER having been on the phone with iYogi (techical support company in India). First guess was it was them following up trying to sell me something else. After quizzing the caller, I hung up. He called right back and again wanted me to type in something that "I think" was going to give him access to my computer. Since I had just been through that with iYogi, I recognized where we were probably heading and HE disconnected after me telling him I thought it was a SCAM.
The number used for MY CALL was 855-210-3300.
Shortly after this, I received another call that showed "BLOCKED CALL" as the number. I lifted and hung up the receiver on that one! - Larry H replies to Larry HJust remembered something else ...
He insisted they were legit and gave me the website www.itechalert.com to go to. Turns out that Domain Name is available?!?!? - LindaI get several calls per week and per month from these guys-no matter what you say they will not stop calling. They have been asked to remove our number from their list and they refuse. They are very persistent and sometimes abusive if you challenge them. I have alerted every person in the house not to respond or give out any information. The number used is 1-800-855-210-3300 and when you ask for a call back number you are given 561-401-0188.

- Lynn| 1 replySame story as above...Peter Franco...notified that a virus had been downloaded into our computer, making it not able to run well...I told him I would have my husband call back and he gave me the number of
561-401-0188. (Caller ID showed 855-210-3300). I asked if he was there each day and he said they would divert the calls to him! Glad I'm dumb and don't take those kinds of calls! (Maybe smart for NOT doing it?!)- Caller: I-tech...affiliated with Microsoft
- Sonya Coleman replies to Roother| 2 repliesI have been taken also today. I got one of these calls. I agreed to their services for a large amount of money. They were very convincing and showed me errors on my computer. I contacted my bank to see if my check can be put back into my account.
- Slim replies to Sonya Coleman| 1 replyIf the scammer accessed your computer, they probably did one or more of the following:
• Disabled the anti-virus software
• Added a lot of malware to the computer
• Copied the Contact List (so they can email the soon-to-be ex-friends)
• Copied any financial data or passwords they could find
• Compromised the ID
• "Zombied" the computer, so it would respond to THEIR commands sent via internet
• Deleted some important files
• Asked for money to repair the damage they caused
Now, what can you do?
1. Pull the cables on the computer, so it cannot access the internet.
2. Change ALL passwords stored on the computer
3. Run FULL malware scans on the computer, in "SAFE" mode!
4. Change the passwords again, particularly if the malware scans showed anything
5. Contact bank and credit card companies
6. Sign up for credit monitoring, and check the status frequently
7. Possibly bring the computer to a local repair shop, and tell them the story.
8. Tell friends what happened, so they can be aware of strange emails from you
9. Plug in the computers only AFTER all the above have been done
10. Change the passwords on all online accounts.
Remember, honest computer companies do NOT cold-call people to tell them their computers need fixing!
You were exposed to one of these scams, and you might be susceptible to others mentioned on this site:
http://phonehelp.2truth.com/facts_rev.html
Remember to return here, to 800notes.com, after you look at any of the information at that site, either to post more information, or to let us know you avoided the scam or fixed the computer correctly. - Sonya Coleman replies to SlimThank you, Slim I appreciate all of your suggestions . I will take my computer to a reputable computer repair shop ,and do the other suggestions. I'm a senior citizen, feel so compromised.
- Judy replies to LynnWow. I am having the same experience as others before me have reported. I too have been receiving these calls from 855-210-3300. This is the 2nd time they have tried calling me in a week. Today, I asked for a return phone number, name and company name. The man calling definitely had a middle eastern accent. He said his name was Jack Martinez. This is definitely a SCAM. Tell them to take your number of their calling list and then hang up.
