They were representing themselves as the Treasury Department and claiming that I had unpaid taxes from 2011. They stated that they were issuing a warrant for my arrest if I did not comply with getting payment vouchers to them.

There is a widespread IRS or "tax scam" being  practiced by scammers on both Canadian and USA residents.

Short answer:
The IRS never initiates a contact via phone.
They always send a snailmail first.

Got a voicemail today from Adam Walker with the Department of Legal Affiars.  The call back number he left was 562-398-3829.  Much of his message was unclear.  He said this was a verbal notification regarding some action which happened against my name.  He said something to suggest I would need an Attorney.  I did not return his call and have no plans to speak with him.

I received the following message translated via VOIP. Basically the same information as you from the same phone number. I do not plan on returning the call either.
"This message is intended for Karen <last name> this is Adam Walker with the Department legal affairs and I was trying to reach you in regards to a very important issue. This is a word verification for you in regards to Dean first and actions which have been spotted-in(?) ... my number is 562-398-3829. I repeat that is 562-398-3829. If for any decent(?) or visit a call back. I would suggest you do have your retain attorney to do it for you as elaine(?) calling us. My and having-to-a(?) legal message for you. I hope you will take this ride and call me back. This is Adam Walker with the Department of legal affairs.Looking forward to speak to you until then have a blessed day and goodbye."

Received a call for my adult daughter from "US Treasury".  You can call back the number, but it doesn't make it legit.

I got the same message today as well. Do you think its legitimate?

I got a call from 562-398-3829. They said they were from the dept. of legal affairs us treasury and the mans name was adam walker. I then spoke to Rose Gilbert about this matter. They told me I was a criminal and going to jail, then hung up on me. I googled the number and found it to be a definite scam. Then I called back and played around with them. i told them I wanted to make a payment, pretended to be somebody else and in general just wasted their time and frustrated them. The more time I have them on the phone dealing with me, the less time they have to scam somebody else.

** Please people, if you get a call from these people, turn the tables on them. Call them back and lead them on, convince them that you are going to pay. keep dangling a carrot in front of their noses, then laugh at them and tell them to eff off!!
