A "bill collector" called from this number on Oct 2011 to inform me that I owed $ from an item supposedly purchased in Dec of 2009!!  Since I have received NO NOTICES of this bill in 2010 or 2011 I couldn't imagine why the person was demanding I pay immediately, over the phone...Iwas told to make out a check to Disadvantaged Handicap Workers of America (DHWA).  I am flabbergasted that someone would expect me, on the spot, to send $ or offer a credit card # with NO NOTICE sent to my address.  Let's see if they continue to call...

I also got the same call last night stating the same things you listed.  I thought it was a scam so I told them to send me to collections.  If for some crazy reason it is true, the collection agency will start sending me a bill.  Don't give them any information over the phone.

We too received an exact same call as the prior two, same thing, we purchased lightbulbs in December, 2009 and had failed to pay.  My husband disputed it and then I got on the phone and disputed it when I was rudely hung up on twice by the supervisor.  I called back demanding information in writing to prove we had ordered and received the item, I was told that all our info was in the legal department because we refused to pay so we would have to wait for the collection agency to contact us.  We were treated rudely and we both felt is was a scam.  I am persuing this issue and will report DHWA to everyone I can!!!

As above, we received a call tonight (11-09-11) saying we owed $289 for light bulbs not paid for but delivered in May of 2009.  The address quoted was an old address that we had moved from eight years earlier.  The woman we spoke to said she had talked to her supervisor and gotten the late fees dropped but we still owed $124.  She said immediate payment was necessary to avoid the bill going to collection this Friday.  We knew what she was saying was false and told her to send it to collection.  The women we spoke to was very polite and tried very hard to make us feel she was sticking up for us.  I'm confident we will never hear from a reputable collection agency regarding this.

I just talked to the Lakewood, CA Police Dept.  The Dispatcher did a quick check on the number and it is located at a business address in Bellflower.  She did not disclose the name of the business but said the call was a very likely a scam.  Because I was calling from out of state she suggested that if I receive further calls to file a complaint with my local police and they could get the appropriate information on the phone number and associated owner.

If you want to to shut them down keep calling them.  I have been doing this all day.

Today 05/01/2012 today I received two messages stating that I owed an outstanding debt that will go to collections.  If I wanted more information I should return the call.  No other details were provided.  My attempts to retun call went unanswered.  Filed a complaint with CA Consumer Affairs.  I will not attempt to contact again.   I believe this is a scam.

EXACTLY the same as above complaints!!!...... DHWA is using old invoices from lifeline industries to bill again!!!! PLEASE CALL L.A county D.A to file a complaint !!!!
