- HEB| 9 repliesA person with a definitive Indian accent called me this morning and told me he was calling from Windows support. He told me my computer was downloading malicious code and that it would harm my computer and that if I had internet access he could show me the code and help me. First off I don't give any callers information unless I can identify them and secondly how did he know it was my computer that was downloading malicious code.
This person gave me a number but also told me he was the only one that could help me. I believe he was trying to gain access to my computer by having me give him information or by getting me to download the code by taking me to his internet site.
Never trust anyone that calls and ask you to do something that will probably do you harm.- Caller: He said Windows Support
- Mike Faulkner| 11 repliesI got a call from a windows 7 support representative. They all had an Indian accent. I went with it and he gained access to my computer, I'm dumb for that, and he "showed" me that I had over 23,000 malicious viruses, infected folders in my computer. He then went on to try to promote an anti-virus product to me, worth over $180. I then told him that I would call him back later, and I haven't talked to them since. Please if you care about your computer don't let these people in! I haven't seen anything wrong going on with my computer yet. But it's just a matter of time.....

- tia| 3 repliesi got a call from a foreign man said that he was a microsoft tech that was working with my provider. He wanted me to get on enternet explorer and put in www.teche4pc.com. He said that my computer was putting out that it had a virus and that the only way he could help is if i got up on this web site. I told him give me your number and i would call him back he wanted me to get up on the web site and that would give me the number and i told him that i wanted him to give me the number. that i needed to check to make sure that he was who he said he was. I called my provider and they said that they did not have any calling their customers. They said that i did the right thing by not taking his word that he was with microsoft. I got up on the internet and it said it is a landline phone from Lakeside Marblehead, Ohio. I hope that this helps someone else out. By the way my provider is Frontier.

- Joe| 3 repliesA Woman with a Indian accent called at around 11:00 a.m. and my Dad answered they said that our computer was downloading malicious files and that our computer was being affected by viruses. She said that they were with Microsoft and they were detected what i said earlier. I only believed them because at the moment i was downloading a free game and wanted to try it out. So they had me believing that they were legit and were trying to help. so they told me to go to this website and download this program so they could help me. so i did and it was a program that allows people to control you computer. I downloaded it and i gave the lady the information and i was instantly transferred to a tech which if anybody has every talked to Microsoft it is impossible for them to be that fast. The tech who also has an Indian accent talks to me about errors and viruses and how my norton antivirus wasn't working properly and said that i should get this antivirus which is the best. he mumbles the name a little so i can't understand it and i pass it off. So i go to the website that he says to go to which is www.teche4pc.com and go and register. I do and i go to the website. The name of the anti-virus is just anti-virus and has 14 reviews and has 4 out of 5 star rating i read the description and try to see if there are any reviews. The description looks sketchy and it says it cost $80 and lasts for a lifetime. I go and act like i would buy it but i tell the man i don't have a debit or credit card or a paypal and asked if he could wait 24 hours for me to get one. All those little things and the fact that the anti-virus was only named anti-virus made this look questionable to be so i looked them up and found this be careful about this scam because they try to prey on people that are computer illiterate and don't know that Microsoft wouldn't take you to a non connected microsoft website without telling you why and warning you.

- TracyJust received a call from an Indian woman claiming to be a Microsoft technician. She said that a computer on my network was downloading vicious files and that I needed to get on my computer to go to www.teche4pc.com. She specified that I needed to do so on Internet Explorer, I used Firefox anyway. As soon as I went to the site, I only heard what I could make out as a typing sound. I said hello a few times and was met with a dial tone after less than a minute. I didn't download anything. And hope that I didn't just run into a keylogger of sorts.

- anonWe have just had a call here in the UK. An Indian sounding buy saying his was from Microsoft in London. He wanted us to look up the website, we did and went straight to this page LUCKILY. Beware he could be convincing and could gain access to your computer, looking at the entries below. He knew our post code.
- KimInSydneyHi all,
I received the same call just now. They are now hiding their phone number. I onl got "1-112" as the caller ID. They said the same as all of the posts above. I refused to give them access so he said he would help me. He said he was from "Windows Service Centre". I asked him was he part of Microsoft. He just said he was from windows service centre and that they don't normally call poeple etc etc.
He gave me the email address where he said he said the error was coming from and it's one that I just started using in the last 2 months and it's one where I enter into sites where I am be spammed so I pretty much delete every email I receive to this address. It's what I call my "junk" mail box. I never use my proper email for "junk/possible spam" sites.
He asked me to open event viewer. I work in iT so I knew what he was asking. He asked me to view the application logs and said see ther are may errors (as there are many logs). I said they are not error logs - window logs alot of thing in the event viewer logs and lot are only for information.
He even knew the exact address I used when I registered to some of these junk websites. The address is the hotel where I was staying at and I had only been at this address for a few days. I asked him how did he get my address and he said that it was from the zip code. I laughed and said you have got to be kidding. The zipcode covers a huge area so there is no way he could get my exact address from a zipcode and email adrress. So, the only way he could have know this information was from the websites where I had entered this information. Someone is selling the information to them and it's just an Indian call centre doing telemarketing.

They said my computer is full of virus & they were partially rt as my system was too slow. They installed an anti-virus after which my computer is running very fast and smooth.
I think these guys are not scam as i called to there customer care number & they responded very gently. At the end of the day if i am getting a good service i don't mind paying them. Even they provided me a Username & Password from where i can login to there site & see all the details related to my account.
They are very professional and the support is excellent.- Caller: Teche4pc

- Mike H| 8 repliesI also received the call saying my computer had a Win32 Virus. They connected to my computer and showed me Applications with errors saying "Oh My Goodness! and That's Terrible!" trying to build concern and get a purchase. I was stupid to let them in and will never do it again.

- Nita HastingsGot same kind of call today....asked the woman to verify who she was she gave the phone to her "supervisor" Kevin...who by the way sounded Indian as well. They gave me the tech4pc.com website and this phone number and said they were based out of Miami. I did not give them access but I did go to look at my error logs. Not really sure what I was supposed to be looking for but also told them numerous times that I have Norton. Talked to them a few minutes and then just said that I was done with this and I hung up and started doing research on the number. I'm not giving anyone access to my computer that can not verify who they are. He couldn't even tell me what kind of files were "being downloaded". I also asked several times what company he was with and he insisted it was Windows Service Center.

- citigirl replies to Mike Faulkner| 5 repliesHow do we bring legal action?
- citigirl| 2 repliesI am a computer [***], so when I got a call from "Windows Support" I immediatly believed something was wrong. I asked several times SO, YOU ARE WITH WINDOWS/MICROSOFT.And was told yes.So let them remote show me how I supposedly has over 1000 viruses. They informed me my computer could crash at any moment. I jumped up and went and put 75$ on a pre-paid CC. For reasons unknown they didn't install any antivirus, and I missed the 50 phone calls they sent. I got irritated and paid 45$ for AVG installed it myself did a scan and realized there wasnt anything wrong with my computer. So I went on their site and tried to get ahold of their billing department, when I copied and pasted the address in my browser....... Nothing. I called the 5672525219 number and a woman answered it "Hello" no this is Teche4pc or anything. Then I informed the man she put me on the phone with that I want my money back. He basically told me no. I did't answer the phone thats why I never received the product. He even got rude and told me he didn't care if I reported them. I asked him for the name of the antivirus that I paid for and he would'nt or couldn't even give me that.. They have called me 25 times in the last hour from an UNKNOWN number trying to install the product since I notified my bank, pay pal and I contacted Windows. I don't know bout anybody else, but I don't appreciate being LIED TO. I was told they were with Windows and that is some BS. I know nothing of computers, but I know there has gotta be a lawyer some where who will take all of our comments and situations into consideration. I personally am NOT GOING TO JUST LET THIS GO.

- Kristy| 2 repliesI just got a call from a man with an indian accent at about 11am who said he was calling from Mircrosoft PC company and that computers in my area were getting viruses on their computers. The number he called from was an unknown number. He told me to go to teche4pc.com and download something and that gave him access to my comuter and showed me how many errors and warnings i had on my computer. then went back to the website and clicked on the anitvirus and he read it to me and told me that it would be a one time $70 charge and I told him I didn't have the money and he told me to use a "plastic card" and I told him I didn't have the money again and he asked if i could get the money from someone I told him no. He asked if i wanted him to call me back when I got the money and I told him no that i would fix it myself and he made a nasty voice and then hung up on me. This is a scam!! They just want to get you creditcard information is what I am guessing. I was dumb enough to give him access to my computer. He didn't tell me what he was doing. THIS IS A SCAM!!!!!
