This may be a scam. Hope they catch him before too long .

He said he was from the IRS, gave a badge number but had an Indian accent. The IRS sends out letters before they call you.

I got the same phone call saying something about tax fraud lol, this person is not the brightest bulb in the box...  he will get caught IRS does not leave recorded messages with badge numbers wow these people are getting dumber by the min.

My husband got call from same indian dude, he was asking for $25k that he said my husband supposedly owed to IRS, he even asked to deposit money in a bank account, we also asked for the letters that IRS sends, he said that they send 2 with no respond, we havent received anything, when he gave himself up was when he gaves us our current address (which is scary) and we thought how come we havent receive any letter and they have our address, and no sense deposit money in a bank account, hmm, hopefully no one falls for it and gets caught.

Some Indian guy called me and said he wanted money to fullfill my debt to the IRS of 30,000 ha! My mom does my taxes so no... But anyways he said the police were coming in one hour because I didn't pay them :)

We just got a call from them a few mins ago. Some people are so [***].

I called back and got him asked for a supervisor and he said there wasn't one. I said the president isn't your supervisor and he said no and hung up on me.

They call me and say that i have to pay  1500 dlls and if I pay that money they will charge me for 50000 dlls more ... I got I little bit scared then I looked for this number in Google search and it is a felony.

There is a widespread IRS or "tax scam" being  practiced by scammers on both Canadian and USA residents.

Short answer:
The IRS never initiates a contact via phone.
They always send a snailmail first.

My call came at 8:15 am from Jonathan Knight of the IRS.  Supposedly I am hiding money from the IRS, which I am not.  I did not answer because I don't pick up the phone from numbers I don't recognize.  I have kept the recording if it is ever needed.  I can understand why some people would get nervous and tell them what they ask because it does sound legitimate but these scammers need to be stopped.

I got a call from Jonathan too!  Haha.  Stupid scammers!  I feel sorry for old people who get these calls.  It has to shake them up.  Some probably fall for it also.

Just got a call from Jonathan too.  Said he is calling from Ireland and I am in trouble with the IRS.  He could scare an older person as he sounds sooooo official.  I don't know any Irish people with Indian accents.  Hope the IRS catches up with this fool.

Ditto. Received a call today from "Jonathan Knight"saying that I owed the IRS money. I wasn't home when he called but he did leave a message.

The IRS needs to address this forcefully.

here's what you do... place a false craigslist add for anything that will attract a lot of calls. that way it will jam their phone circuts

On January 15 2015, we received a threatening call from someone identifying him self as Officer Jonathon Knight of the IRS.  He left a case number of 06719, but did not say who he was calling for and he did not leave any call back information. We checked our caller ID and saw the number 571-210-5954. The voice on the other end was of an Indian origin. We later received other threatening calls from an Indian woman who threatened of IRS agents coming to arrest someone.

Girl you've got bigger scammers to worry about!

Ever think that the number might be spoofed?  So your  vigilante tactics might end up harassing some innocent person.  Not cool, Dude.
