They claim they have a legal notice of tax fraud and are filing a federal claim.  Tried to call back and the phone rang and rang.  Is this a prank?

Received the same message as above, from "officer Christine Johnson" with the IRS ( with an East Indian Accent) regarding a tax fraud against our name, asking to call back this number.  We did not call back.  Sounds like a scam, lots of background noise. I don't believe her

Got a call from a caller with Indian accent claiming to be an officer with the IRS regarding a Tax fraud filing against my name in a government courthouse.  Background noise appears to be from a call center and possibly a scam.

it's a scam. I did have an outstanding issue with the IRS so it scared me, but I told them I will just go to the IRS office by my house and I did and the IRS told me they would never call me for anything unless I was already working with an agent I had meet at the IRS building.  They will tell you a sheriff is coming out and that is another thing the IRS never uses because the IRS has their own enforcement officers.
Bottom line from the IRS agent I spoke with, they never will contact you out of the blue and never via phone. The IRS also never sends out agents for the first contact and will always ask you to come to the their office for a specific meeting about a specific tax item. They don't audit 10 years of returns and then just request you come in to pay money. I got the real notice one time and it was for a specific item on a specific return.
They don't ask for money the first day, but call back the second to close the deal and get the cash. I told them I went to the IRS office and my balance was zero and they hung up.

I got the call too. The message left this # and I didn't fall for it either. A very knowledgeable friend said that this is indeed a scam.  Also a call center rep. left the message in broken English.

They called my wife's cell phone and then they talked to me regarding the IRS audit but as soon as I dialed their 571-526-0004 number and it rang busy I found out they were pulling a scam and I've sent them to hell!
Do not believe in a word they say...
They all are horrible English speaking with an Indian accent (officer Shoemaker?!) comm'on!

I received a message on my home phone from a man who spoke with a heavy Indian accent. I had to play the message back 5 times to understand what he was saying   Very threatening message regarding sme type of tax fraud and I needed to call back before the case would be filed at the Federal Courthouse.  I tried calling my local IRS office and was unable to get to a live person so I googled the # and located these posts.  I did call the # and spoke to a woman in Michigan who said she had received calls from over the country with the same story.  This is a scam!!
