Message says her name is Nicki Johnson from the Internal Revenue Service, she is an attorney and it is vital I call back or there will be consequences. I know for a fact I don't owe anything to the IRS.

Got the same message. If you google the IRS They never call you personally on the telephone it's a SCAM when this broad calls again tell her to stick it wheree the sun doesn't shine.

This call said she was Nikki Smith.  Irs.  Time sensitive matter.  Riigghhtt

I got the same Nikki!! I tried calling back and nothing happens on the other line.

I received the same call from Nikki Johnson 6 hours ago stating it was the IRS. I called the number a foreign guy answered and said I was being sued. When my wife asked how he able to give her all the information without me he hung up.

I just got the same voicemail from Nicki Johnson. Scared the heck out of me because no one likes to hear about the IRS whoever, I called back a few times and nothing then finally a foreign guy and served and we got disconnected. My husband said the IRS doesn't call you. They send you a letter or statement that comes from Austin, TX if you're feom Houston. Other states have other regulations so Virginia won't be calling you. I will be calling them back to see what other scare tactics they're trying to use!!!! Please advise f any of you get further info!

There is a widespread IRS or "tax scam" being  practiced by scammers on both Canadian and USA residents.

Short answer:
The IRS never initiates a contact via phone.
They always send a snailmail first.

Got the same call hours after filing taxes using Turbo Tax.  Scam!

My husband just got the same phone call but it was someone apparently from another country.  Got my hubby all shook up!  Stated we were going to go to prison for lying on our taxes and the Sheriff's were on their way.  Horrible!  When my husband said my wife will call you back he got mad and hung up.  I have reported it to http://www.treasury.gov/tigta/contact_report_scam.shtml

Received a call from 571-526-0020 with a pre recorded message stating, that the message was from a Nicki Johnson from the IRS and to please call back before action was taken against me. I searched the number and found that all of this. Will be calling the IRS to report the incident.

Called my 12 year old's phone. Recorded message from IRS telling her it's urgent to call back.

Just got a call from this number 571-526-0020 with the same urgent message as everyone else!

I have received a voice mail in my cell phone. The message was a recorded message and was incomplete. Just got their hot line number 571 526.0020 and said that I must call back before action was taken against me. As the message was incompleted, I don't know if it indicates that was from IRS. Anyway, I just arrived to the country month ago and I don't declare any taxes yet. It looks like a scam

I wish i had read all of these before my experience today.  My husband received a message and I called back thinking something serious from what my huaband was telling.  They went on for 35 minutes.  I thought it was something very serious.  They tole me to leave me job and go to Office Depot to do a secure transaction.  They told me that if we disconnected the call, the Sheriffs office would be knocking on my door to take me to jail.  I was on my lunch break.   When I told the guybI needed to speak with my husband, he told me that I could after I made the transfer or just disconnect and the police would be there.  When I talked to someone in the background,  he yelled at me and asked me who I was talking to and why was I playing games.  After I hung up after persistence from my coworkers and husband, 5 minutes later a person called from ane Unavailable number stating that they were with the local sheriff's office and that they wanted to know where I was right away so they could come and pick me up.  When I refused, they said they would find me at  my residence and arrest me.  When I told them I was calling the police, they insisted they were the police.  I hung up, called the police and was told this is a huge scam and they have no way to track the people.  Seriously though.... this guy threatened me in every way possible.  I hope they are caught!!

I received a call from a different number (415-324-5409) from the same Nikki Johnson. What can be done to stop these idiots from calling?? I also have received them from the (571-526-0020) number. It gets rather annoying to get threatening voice mails from someone who very little command of the English language.
