Got a call this morning.  It was a recording telling me that the IRS is officially suing me and to call them back at the # that was shown on my caller ID (571-599-8178).  I am sure that this is a scam - I've noticed some comments on the internet that there is some sort of a scam involving fake IRS issues.  Just for the heck of it I called the #.  It took me 3 tries to get through a heavy accent to figure they were saying "Thank you for calling IRS; how may I help you".  I seriously doubt the IRS would hire someone that incompetent to answer their phone.  I'm pretty sure that any time I have called the IRS the phone is answered with a pre-recorded series of CLEARLY UNDERSTANDABLE prompts to route my call to the appropriate department. Also note that the IRS always notifies me of their intentions in WRITING!!!!!!!!  A whole new level of incompetence in the criminal world!

Here the number to report this scam1800 366 4484 I got a call saying final notice and a law suit vs me red flags .i called back just to see how this scam works I called some idian person answered IRS he told me I owe 3800 and I need to pay it right away or I will be going jail and a lawsuit they freeze my bank accounts any thing to scare me he than put me hold and past the phone to a person that said he is a senior office red flag he read me all these fake charges gave me a a fake case number fake badge number and wanted me to go get the money out while he waited on my cell phone on hold and would let me no how to pay it after I go get money this is nuts I than told me I wasted his time and said I no it is a scam he than said the cops will be at my door and started cursing me out Ina different language. They are a call center Ina diffent country spoofing numbers and looking victims to scam the sad part is some older might believe them this is a whole story script please call the FBI the cops more people have to beware off this banks should have signs about this scam don't call back that number they just get more information On people warn others about this fake IRS scam

We got the call and promptly called our tax consultant and were advised that it was a scam.

Received the call Friday (11/6/2015) at 12:01 PM.  The recording informed me this was the FINAL notification that the IRS will be filing a law suit against me and I was supposed to call them back.  First indication that it's a scam: I hadn't received ANY other notices so there's no way it could be the final one.  Second indication that it's a scam: Am I supposed to believe the IRS would contact me by a recorded message?  I may be naive about a lot of things but I'm not stupid...common sense goes a long way!  571-599-8178 is, without question, a scam!!

Got a call this morning.  I called the number and asked this person (had a heavy foreign accent) for his name and badge number.  He said "John Bederson", badge #591721.  I thanked him and asked him is this the number that I should give the Federal Trade Commission and the Attorney General for the State of Michigan.  He said, "Oh....okay".....and hung up.  The Federal Trade Commission's number is 877-382-4357 for anyone who wants to report these scammers.  Received calls in early October from 253-590-4817 and also 832-792-9212.  Both of those numbers aren't operable any more.  Will be reporting this to the FTC on Monday.

I called back 7 times to harass them back. Finally they stopped answering my calls.

They blocked my number. Hopefully they won't ever call me back with the same scam using different number.

This is a big scam they told me a law suit against me and to call back the number the IRS does not call people they was just a big thing about this type off scam on the news and warned people to not answer or call them back to report the calls . They are spoofing numbers trying to put fear in people lying about the police coming to people's houses .

Just got a recording from this number stating they are the IRS and this is our FINAL NOTICE and that they would be taking us to court. We need to call them back at this number. There are 3 different sites listing this as a scam! Thanks everyone who took the time to comment and make sure their scam goes nowhere.

called and said they were from veterans affairs  called number back after reading this site and told them i was reporting them they hung up

Received a call with voicemail saying final notice from the IRS. I returned the call and person identified themselves as Ashley Jones badge # 1008492. When she informed me that I was being sued by the IRS for tax fraud, I asked her why I have not received anything by mail and she immediately hung up. I then returned the call and asked to speak to a supervisor, woman claimed she was and provided me with another bogus name and # and when I asked her if I should use this information with the FTC to confirm the call was legit she kept yelling "go ahead sir....go ahead sir...go ahead" and then hung up on me. Definitely a scam, any time I ever received a notice from the IRS it was always by mail. If this happens to you make sure you file a complaint with the FTC and also put your number on the National Do Not Call List https://www.donotcall.gov.

Received a robo call that I was being sued by the IRS. Called back. Someone with a foreign accent answered. She saiid they had nothing to do with the IRS and then hung up.

This is someone impersonating the IRS 571-599-8178

Same story got the message off my answering machine today that I was being sued by the IRS and to call this 571 number immediately. I hope they do not target the elderly

This caller is impersonating the IRS.  I believe this is a federal crime and I will be reporting this to the FBI.
