I just missed a call from this number on my cell phone.  I wish I knew what it was.  Maybe it's a political ad call or something.

This # is the Missouri Department of Revenue.  They are on a hotline so it doesn't give the actual number they are calling from.  They are calling about income or business taxes associated with that phone number.  The number to call them back is 573-526-5249.  They just got a new phone system to take care of that white noise you were hearing.

I got a call to my cell phone from someone at that number at 3:22 AM on June 27, 2008. I live in Kansas City, MO. I had my cell phone next to my bed and picked up. The person asked me who I was and I replied, "Who is this" The caller identified himself as "Nick with the Highway Patrol". The person then said "Sorry" and then the phone was disconnected or hung up.

One can only imagine what it feels like to get an early morning call from someone saying they are from the Highway Patrol. You only get those kinds of calls if someone is dead, hurt or has been in a bad accident. I didn't know if the person was sorry for calling a wrong number or if they were saying I'm sorry to inform you...Needless to say it was a disturbing call...All I can say is "IDIOT!"

Seriously you don't deserve phone privileges if you can't dial a phone correctly in the middle of the night!

i have gotten several calls from them, but voice mail never is complete...either sounds like a broken record with no number to call, or an incomplete message. i keep calling the number back only to get a busy signal. i own a business, and live in missouri, so i suppose it could be about the revenue dept. i need to contact them and see i guess.

Is it a coincidence that the person I talked to at this number is named Kristin and the only person defending it or saying it is legit is named Kristin? Strange.

It is a MO area code and the automation says it is the MO Dept. of Revenue. I got through, said I had a message on my machine and she immediately asked me for my social security number. I said "I'm not giving you that over the phone. I bet you hear that a lot huh?"

She snapped back "NO, we are the department of revenue and it is secure."

Then she asked if my name was Robert something to which I said no. "Oh in that case, we'll take this number off our call list..." Why don't they ask this question first? If this is a scam, may they rot in hell.

I called the general Missouri Dept of Revenue number on their website - and asked them about the message that was incomplete - hoping someone could help me. Gave them my tax id and we resolved my issue because they could look up my info. I complained that their system was NOT a good one and that they should do better at leaving messages.

Just wanted to add to my message above that the call could also be from the Missouri Division of Employment Security, at 573-751-3215.  But good luck getting through to the right person when calling them back  --if they don't leave a message.  I trie, and they couldn't figure out what the call was about, even though I filled them in on some relevant facts.  Will wait for another call and take it next time.

522-XXXX numbers are not a scam! That is a number that can only be used by the State of Missouri and not by a private company or caller. This is probably just a generic number that shows up on caller id so people cannot call back the exact person that called them an instead have to call in to the call line.

This is the MO Dept of Rev - and they are calling you because you owe the state of MO money for back taxes.  If you pay your taxes, they won't call you anmore.
