An Asian man named "John Smith" emails sign companies to place a large order of banners. He wants you to use a specific shipping company but want you to charge his card for the shipping and your company would be liable for the shipping cost. Instead of him paying for the shipping himself and having the mercandise picked up from your company.

What was strange is that he wanted 20 banners manufactured in Canada and then shipped to South Africa. Where if he ordered the banners from a company in Africa, it would only cost him pennies on the dollar.

I suspect that the order would go through on a fraudulant credit card, then charged back to your company and you would end up having to pay their shipping charges.

We got a phone call from this guy today, 574-216-8907 (caller id says OUT_OF_AREA) He said that he was having a problem with our email address, and asked us to send him an email so he could reply. He then replied with this:

After pulling up the phone number here (and the email address on many other websites we have decided not to reply, as this is fairly obviously a scam.

ha ha - this guy emailed me today.

"Hello

        John Smith is my name and I am happy to send you this email in request for some skin care products but before I do any selections,I want you to email me back with the list of skin cares you have in-stock or if possible just get me your website so that I can have a thorough look at the products you have in-stock in order for me to choose a preferable one.
By the way happy Christmas in advance and do you accept Master Card and Visa Card as form of payment?

We have received an email wanting Fly Rods and have them shipped to Zimbabwe.
Below is some info he sent.

This guy... same phone #, name under Joshua Carter.
Wanted two expensive TVs and an expensive amplifier shipped to his friend in Zimbabwe, after a couple questionable emails and him calling me once I had doubts.
I read the above posts and just called him (574-216-8907). I basically told him to go F_ck himself and stop wasting everybody's time, he confessed to it being a scam and that was that. I may also be contacting authorities and probably waste more of my time trying to track him down. Here's all the info he provided me with, I only know the email and phone # work, not sure on the addresses:
1) 200 E 3rd St.

2)La-Accra, Ghana, W. Africa, 00233

AND. .I  googled the address he gave, the address (or neighbors address) that came up was a local police station. I called them and gave them the run-down, not sure if they will actually do anything with only his phone # to go on, I'll repost if anything come of it.

Just got a call for a large order of balloons to be picked up by a freight company.
I thought something was strange as he e-mailed first and then called immediately to place the order.
I turned him down......then i google. Thanks you all for your imput and comments.

Also got a call from this guy by the name of Mike Wilson. Wasted a ton of my time as I thought he was a real client. Kept calling and would not give me his actual number. Sounded fishy, gave his name, then a credit card under a different name, shipped to someone in Africa with yet another different name. Also wanted freight shipped to La-Accra, Ghana, W. Africa, 00233. Same story, weird freight company under the title "Meridian Shipping Company." These guys are idiots. Keep up the great work everyone.

Got an email from Joshua Carter 1414jman@gmail.com wanting over 10,000 balloons sent to Zimbabwe within 2 weeks.  Raised my hackles on a number of levels, but I've had odd requests before.  When he called and said he wanted me to set up the shipping through my company, I called the State Department and the Commerce Department.  Am reporting him to the Consumer Fraud Department and have forwarded his e-mail to a company in Wales which works on shutting down "Nigerian Mail Fraud" groups and has been successful on many levels.  I looked up the above phone # and read the various reports here.  Thanks.  I won't be falling for it.

Had the same happen here. Mike Wilson called and wanted Wine Cabinets shipped to Accra, Ghana via Meridian Freights. I realized it was a scam when I could not get a return reply from the freight company. The phone number they used was 574-216-8907. The number is out of Culver Indianna.

Mr. WIlsons contact from Meridian Freight, Von Jeffery, called once and blocked his number. We were cut off and he block it. He called from 324-373-9117.

We also got an email order for 3 wine cabinets from Mike Wilson and he wanted us to ship them to
Geraldine Colwell at 232 Linkin Park, Accra Ghana 00233 through Von Jeffery at Meridian Freight.  I'm so mad I wasted so much time on design and emails.  But thanks to everyone's postings I'm only out some time.  Wilson just emailed me back to say that if I would not ship the cabinets he was too busy to do business with us.  Oh Well!!!

BEWARE!  He still doing it to date by the look of it because I'm sure this is the same guy who wanted to order 40 banners from us and wanted us to call globalshippinglines@cooltoad.com to charge his credit card.  He's emailed us under the name "James Sizrmore".  The email address that he gave us is jamessizemore441@gmail.com

The company he's declared to us is Ridges Orphanage Home.  He wanted the banners to be shipped to his stables in Nepal.  The exact address he gave was:
