I no longer answer my phone because of all the harrassing phone calls.  Amazed that the phone company does nothing to stop the harrassing phone calls to their customers.  Am on the Do Not Call List but they do not care about the Do Not Call List.  I would never do business with someone who does not care about the Do Not Call List!!

Prerecorded message calling about a security service to homeowners due to high crime in the area.  But the ones who set up this scam are really the telemarketing criminals themselves.

Caller ID says "online update" but the recording says GE Security.  "Due to increased criminal activity in your neighborhood, GE Security is willing to give 5 homeowners free security systems."  blah blah blah.  Spreads rumors about crime to incite fear, but ignores the DNC list.  They give an option to be removed from their list, but I'm already on the DNC list!

Called my home number today which I no longer answer since I am on DNC list. They ignore the DNC list just like all the other crooks out there. Why would I want them to install a "Security System" in my house? Yeah right! Caller ID stated: ONLINE UPDATE.

    1) When you get a call out of the blue from a number that is totally unfamiliar to you, it's probably someone trying to sell you something.

    2) If you answer the call, it will likely be...a)  a robocall; b) a bogus call; and for sure,  c) a means to HELP MAKE SURE YOU WILL GET CALLED AGAIN and AGAIN by these jerks and all their subsidiaries and cronies and partners in crime. The reason for that is that they now know you are a "live' number and will either keep calling you themselves or sell your tele # to other jerks like them.

    3) Calling them back will have the same effect as #2 with the same guarantee they now have your tele #, and will continue calling you.

    4) The best way to cut down on these calls is:
DO NOT ANSWER...That means not picking up the phone AT ALL, even to blow a whistle in their ear or yell obscenities at them!

GET A CALL BLOCKER. There are many on the market that are not expensive and are very easy to set up and use. I love mine!  They won't stop the calls, but they will help, and they will assuredly cut down on the nuisance factor, as most call blockers announce the caller's name as well as flash it across the top of your TV and/or your computer, and best of all, PICK UP AFTER THE FIRST RING WITH A RECORDED MESSAGE OF YOUR CHOICE THAT YOU HAVE PREPROGRAMMED. Those messages sound just like the real ones announcing that, for example, "This phone is no longer in working order. Please make sure you have the right number and have dialed it correctly." There are about 20 messages or more to choose from. Even a fast busy signal that makes it sound like your number is out of order. No more running across the house or down the hallway to answer these bogus calls that now won't ring twice. Plus, you have a white list for people whose calls you want to make sure don't ever get blocked. It's great a great tool to have, folks.

.that is because the 'Do Not Call' list is a government agency staffed by nitwits who, if not employed by the government, would be otherwise unemployable.
