Not so much a call but an email scam which this number is associated with... this is the transcript from a response i got to my advert for sale on Craigslist -  the number at the bottom if you call goes dead and this is obviously some type of scam...

I will love to make an instant purchase, so please do withdraw the advert from Craigslist, I don't mind adding an extra $50 dolls for you to do that so that i can be rest assured that the item is in hand. I will also like you to know that I will be paying via check due to the distance and it will be over night payment. My secretary in the state will issue the check for the payment. I am presently on a business trip and will be back soon. You don't need to bother your self with the shipment. Ok? My girl friend had the samething happen to her, the scammer came off softer the first time, enough so to get her name and address. how does this scam work, did giving her name and address put her in any trouble?

We got the exact same scam.  Thanks for the posts on this.  Listing was also through Craigslist.

This was the repsonse to an ad on CL that i just got,I understand it's a scam,but what's the angle?? Doee he send the check and it some how is the reversed?Just curious as to how this guy is trying to get one over on us.Thanx

I want to thank all of you for this warning as I was almost a victim.  Erring on the side of caution, someone who is willing to pay via a "private shipping mode" at their cost for an item that is being sold on CRAIG's List for $350 from IL to NJ ... well they could have bought the item cheaper by going to the local Sears.  I called the number to find that it is associated with the "Hearing Impaired".

What he does is send you a bogus check and you cash it and keep your money due and then wire him the difference. You end up paying YOUR bank back the money. See what how he tried to scam me. I told him I would release the goods after the check cleared the bank, not when I cashed it. I would verify the funds from the bank it was drawn. There are at least 4 ways to smell a scam. Poor spelling, poor grammar/punctuation, the amount of the check being more than purchase price and the fact the extra funds has to be wired via Western Union.

So once you have the check please cash it and deduct the money for your goods plus $50 that for your run around expenses.
The excess fund should please be sent to my mover via Western union, This fund will be use in offsetting the cost of the shipment he as undertaken for me recently.

The check was mailed with the fund to cover cost of the item and also shipment by my shipping company. The amount i placed with my company is a refund for a cancelled order and been a refund it can only be written on a single check so that is why i want you to receive these amount and send the difference to my shippers that will arrange the pick up when the check clears at your bank. Once the bank verify and deposit the check you will deduct your fund $1000. and send the excess fund of $1950 via MoneyGram Money Transfer to the shipping company C.E.O Immediately so that they will proceed with shipment paper work and also bill of sales that will be sign at the NOTARY before pick up.so email me back if you are okay by this and let me know once you receive the check.....so i will await your email asap!
