doesn't matter
13 Nov 2007
Someone called and left a message for a Darren, but no one by that name lives here. They left a reference number and an 800 number to call back. I called back and they were rude and short with me. I was just calling to tell them they have the wrong number. I got annoyed and just hung up. They said they were a tennessee valley company in new york.
They keep calling saying it's in reference to my brother-in-law. They actually did have his name, but again I told them I haven't seen him in 11 years. They wouldn't say what it was about and I wonder if it was a collections agency. I honestly didn't even think my brother-in-law new our number..
I had a message on my phone stating that they were calling referencing something with my sister. They knew my name and hers. I called back using the reference number and they said it was Genesee Valley Associates. They said my sister is involved in a civil matter and they need to get ahold of her. They stated they got my number off of a government database. I asked my sister about it and she stated she never heard of the place and isn't involved in any civil cases.
I also recives a call forn 585-278-1693 looking for my brother-inlaw saing it was a cival matter and they have call several people looking for him and he has a phone but has yet to call his number
I received calls on my answering machine the past 2 days from women identifying themselves as employees of Genesee Valley Associates telling me I needed to call them in reference to someone with the same name as my brother. They were, "about to make final determinations in the case" and that it, "was imperative that I call in regard to my input in those decisions." When I called the number, they were very evasive as to who they were and what they wanted. The best the gal answering the phone could come up with was, "We're a processing company." When I asked, "Process what?", she responded that it depends on the department. Huh? I told them that I don't give out unsolicited personal information without knowing who I was talking to and why they wanted it. I got the "federal privacy laws prevent us from telling you why we want to reach this person" runaround. These types of calls shouldn't be tolerated by law-abiding people and shady operations like this need to be shut down!
I receive a call today from this number. The lady stated that it was an emergency call for my husband but the name she gave me was not my husbands. She had my name correct though. I did not realize this was a scam until I looked it up here.
I also just got a call from them asking for my father. They said it was in reference to "a civil matter" involing my BROTHER-IN-LAW! They have nothing to do with each other, so it was an immediate red flag.
Hey, here's an idea for Genesse Valley Associates:
Use the "Straightfoward Approach", it includes honest integrety! But that isn't likely part of thier Policy and Procedure manual.
Obviosly, they have background investigative software, such as Accurint or Experian, which lists every bit of information available on you, down to your neighbors telephone numbers. I used to use it myself on prospective new hires at work. You might think all the information they give out should be illegal, but I used to get every person's associate's SS#'s in the report, that information depended on the subscriber's security clearence assinged determined soley on the reason given on the appication for the service. Scarey stuff- huh?.
The caller said it was a courtesy call for someone I never heard of and that they must call back to avoid further action. They had called before with an urgent message regarding some rediculous "file number" for the same unknown person.
I received a similar call to the above posts stating that this was a mitigation firm, and when i asked who the other party was, I got the "federal law prohibits us from disclosing that information..." spiel.
Seems like i would have been served some papers if someone wanted to sue me...
This number appears on my caller id EVERY DAY!!! I am so sick of it. I have an unlisted number, and very few people have it, so I don't answer if I don't know who it is.
I have received two calls from Genesee Valley Associates, both messages on my answering machine. I called back after the second one, gave them the identifier number they had left, they said they were looking for a person who rode my school bus when I was in high school 13 years ago!! I told them I had married & moved out of state since, questioned how they got my info, no answer to that question. Though they said they were making a note on the file & wouldn't call again. It's been two weeks & nobody's called back yet!
this person called last evening and said they were with the Tennesee Valley Associates that I should return the call. Upon returning the call they referenced a delienquent account and I said I would agree to pay this ONLY if they sent me something in writing in which they totaly refused.I informed them that I do not give information out over the phone and they accused me of avoiding them. DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE any information it sure does sound like a scam to me.
Called and left a message on my answering machine stating that they were looking for my daughter. Caller said her name was Angela Hubbard with Genessee or Tennessee Valley Associates. Speaks very quickly with "authority" and gives you a reference number when calling back. Very snippy, quotes privacy issues when questioned, said she got my name and number from a database and said I could help or hurt my daughter as the matter was legal.
Got a a call from this company today asking, by name, for my mother who has been deceased for over 12 years. Left a reference number and a toll free number 800-218-8828. Where do they come up with this stuff?
I received a call from this number today. There was a message on my answering machine saying that they were trying to get in touch with a lady that I know concerning a civil case. They said that they got my number from a government database.
Call looking for my brother in law. I tell them he doesn't live here anymore and they hang up only to call back 30 seconds later, and the process repeats about 4 times till they get rude and i curse them out and refuse to answer the phone anymore.
I have received a call from "Gennessee" or "Tennessee" Valley Associates with messages left on my machine in reference to a Charmin Deyette. The phone number that was listed for me to call was 800-218-8828. I finally called to see what this was all about and they put me right through to Ashley Simms, the caller on the messages. She said I was listed as next of kin. I told her I never heard of this person and she acted like she didn't believe me. I insisted and hung up. Then I got to thinking and my husband said I should have asked more questions so I called right back. A man answered the phone this time, took the reference number but did not put me through to "Ashley." He said I was not listed as next of kin just as a reference or acquaintance. I told him I did not know this person and wanted to know how I could be listed as a reference. He didn't answer, just that he had a note to remove my name from their database. I asked if they were a collection agency and he said yes. He was very short with me and didn't really want to talk. What's wrong with people?
Got a call from these folks at 10:30 this am. And yes they are not nice people. Same MO. Have no intention of calling them. They are looking for a Ex bro in law I havent seen in 10 years. I have delt with these people before looking for other Ex family members. Here is one database that they are using to connect you with these people. You can have yourself removed from thes lists. http://www.veromi.net/processor.asp
