This lady with a foreign accent called and left her phone number at 585-568-6665 saying she's calling from IRS about my income tax on Monday (MLK day).  She called twice today at 8:00 am today and left number of 585-283-7013.
This is a scam, be very careful.

it is a huge scam be careful, they called me 3 times this morning at 8 AM, indian accent, said I have a problem with my taxes and IRS, need to call dexter cruz as soon as possible, I told him to go and $&$& himself

This number called me on Monday three times. The guy with thick Indian/Pakistani accent claimed to be fron IRS central something and said I ha ve tax problem.  I am sure it is a scam.  It is very annoying. Does anyone knows which police/FBI branch should we report it to?

I got this call twice. Do not plan on returning it. I don't think IRS would call like this but would send certified mail if it was real.

We have received the calls from 585-283-7013 and asked us to pay $3481.82 in 2 hrs. And the account number he gave us is 22815421.

Called 2x on MLK day and again 2 days later....called from 209-320-1385 said to call: 585-283-7013. Name given was Michael Brown with THICK Indian accent. Also said stated he was "...calling from IRS, Internal Revenue Service..."   •You can contact the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) Identity Theft Hotline toll-free at 877-438-4338. Don't know if it'll help with THIS, but these people are trying to obtain your data, so to me that's identity fraud & theft attempts. Call your phone company & see if there is a fee for blocking. Don't answer regardless for that let's them know someone is there.

same story -- heavy accect, and I could bearly make out what he said, something about IRS.  I am going to ignored it.

If IRS want to contact you they will send you a letter first, and you just follow the instruction from the letter.
Hang up . Do not give any information through the phone to these people.

got a phone call and called back.  Basically, someone with strong Indian accent claim that I will be changed and arrested due to back taxes, give instructions on how to send the money (cash).  I hang up the phone.

I just recieved the same call.. I thouhgt it was a prank call because like everyone else I could barley understand what the person was saying. She went from asking for 3k to 280.00.

we also got a call from a man claiming to be from the IRS, Davy Down, with a heavy East Indian accent. (585) 283- 7013 was the number he left for us, I couldn't really understand much except that it was urgent and there was a problem with our taxes. Definitely a scam!

We received a call from this number at 9pm last night, then again at 7:30am this morning.  Person says his name is Roger, that he is calling from the IRS and our attorney call-back is "extremely time sensitive".  When he called this morning 7:30am, he was speaking a foreign language on the voice mail.  

No doubt, it is a scam.  The IRS is required to send you a letter for any debt they think you owe.

I just got this phone call Friday morning at 9 AM January 24 with someone with an Indian accent claiming to be the IRS identifying himself as Ofc. (English name I can't recall ) and asking for my specific name -they had done this previously so I was aware of this scam -I told him this was the Police Department and I will transmit this information from police to the FBI to put this phone number under surveillance he said well can you just pass on my message to ( my self ).
It's as if The word police department did not click and he did not understand he was calling the police.

Same deal, some guy with a thick Indian accent called me twice (name was Mike Carter), claiming I had some gap in my income tax, which I haven't filed yet this year.  Left a number 585-283-7013 to call back.  I called back, his mailbox was full so I couldn't hear what information he wanted, but I'm going to call back once his mailbox clears up so I can hear what kind of scam he is trying to pull.  

WASHINGTON — The Internal Revenue Service today warned consumers about a sophisticated phone scam targeting taxpayers, including recent immigrants, throughout the country.

Victims are told they owe money to the IRS and it must be paid promptly through a pre-loaded debit card or wire transfer. If the victim refuses to cooperate, they are then threatened with arrest, deportation or suspension of a business or driver’s license. In many cases, the caller becomes hostile and insulting.

“This scam has hit taxpayers in nearly every state in the country.  We want to educate taxpayers so they can help protect themselves.  Rest assured, we do not and will not ask for credit card numbers over the phone, nor request a pre-paid debit card or wire transfer,” says IRS Acting Commissioner Danny Werfel. “If someone unexpectedly calls claiming to be from the IRS and threatens police arrest, deportation or license revocation if you don’t pay immediately, that is a sign that it really isn’t the IRS calling.” Werfel noted that the first IRS contact with taxpayers on a tax issue is likely to occur via mail
Other characteristics of this scam include:
Scammers use fake names and IRS badge numbers. They generally use common names and surnames to identify themselves.
Scammers may be able to recite the last four digits of a victim’s Social Security Number.
Scammers spoof the IRS toll-free number on caller ID to make it appear that it’s the IRS calling.
Scammers sometimes send bogus IRS emails to some victims to support their bogus calls.
Victims hear background noise of other calls being conducted to mimic a call site.
After threatening victims with jail time or driver’s license revocation, scammers hang up and others soon call back pretending to be from the local police or DMV, and the caller ID supports their claim.
If you get a phone call from someone claiming to be from the IRS, here’s what you should do:
If you know you owe taxes or you think you might owe taxes, call the IRS at 1.800.829.1040. The IRS employees at that line can help you with a payment issue – if there really is such an issue.
If you know you don’t owe taxes or have no reason to think that you owe any taxes (for example, you’ve never received a bill or the caller made some bogus threats as described above), then call and report the incident to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration at 1.800.366.4484.
If you’ve been targeted by this scam, you should also contact the Federal Trade Commission and use their “FTC Complaint Assistant” at FTC.gov.  Please add "IRS Telephone Scam" to the comments of your complaint.
Taxpayers should be aware that there are other unrelated scams (such as a lottery sweepstakes) and solicitations (such as debt relief) that fraudulently claim to be from the IRS.
The IRS encourages taxpayers to be vigilant against phone and email scams that use the IRS as a lure. The IRS does not initiate contact with taxpayers by email to request personal or financial information.  This includes any type of electronic communication, such as text messages and social media channels. The IRS also does not ask for PINs, passwords or similar confidential access information for credit card, bank or other financial accounts. Recipients should not open any attachments or click on any links contained in the message. Instead, forward the e-mail to phishing@irs.gov.

The first time ever got such a call I called 911 because I freaked out. The police officer from our local town educate me on the phone scams that come along text season specifically because a lot of people are in that scared of the IRS to start. When it came for him to conclude the one hour education and leaving I asked him if he will file a report he said it's up to you but I can just tell you know from his personal experience that whenever they file phone number scam such as these it does not go beyond one or two offices and then it is stopped . He said that the FBI are the ones who usually follow cases that deal with such nonviolent crimes and that there is a special office for such crimes but he mentioned that the FBI are very efficient with Internet crimes more then telephone calls as the verbal communications and connections are harder to track. Again I'm just conveying what the local police officer told me from his experience of dealing with me a few weeks.

Some one who identify himself as Mathew Jones from IRS called twice from this number He said that I have tax issue and need to call back the number. I withheld my number and called the number back. It would just take me to the voice mail that says " extension 3029 is on the phone." Next day, He called again 7:30 am saying that I did not call them back. I contacted IRS and filed complain online and phone. IRS would never contact individual on the phone. Don't answer a call from this number , ignore it!
