This was an unsolicted phone call - after 11 pm local time and woke me from my sleep

I had a call from this number on a Sunday night. A woman explained to me how I have a computer virus and suggested I turn on my computer and let her walk me through how to delete the viruses! Nice try!

THIS IS A SCAM. Read about the your-PC-is-infected scam here http://news.softpedia.com/news/Cold-Call-Tech ... on-150170.shtml They lie about your PC sending out malware, error messages, etc., and say your PC is about to crash to frighten you into giving them remote control of your PC to fix the nonexistent problem (don't let them!). If they ask you to open the systems tab in eventvwr.msc to see all the errors, these harmless errors are *normal* for any Windows PC (mine has several and it runs just fine). Don't let them take control of your PC because they can download *real* malware, possibly a malware suite, that can spam, steal bank logins and personal info, etc. If they've remoted into your PC, the safest fix is to re-format your drive and re-install your OS assuming you have clean backups of your data. You can try scanning with various antivirus software but scanning may not find all the malware. If you don't know how, get help from friends or pay a local shop to do it. THIS IS A SCAM.

I missed this call - didn't recognize the number and found this web site to see where it was coming from - Lucky me! I won't be answering any unknown numbers from now on.

I picked up and got the pause followed by hello?... Apparently if you hit the same number several times repeatidly it frigs up the computer calling, and they don't call back. I'm about to find out over the next few days if this is true.

called the number back immediately and it was disconnected. My phone said it was from New York. Thought it was very suspicious to have a number call me and within seconds be disconnected.

I have had several calls from these idiots. You have to be pretty gullible to fall for this one. I like to keep them on the phone for a while and string them along, when I have the time. Might as well get a laugh out of it.

these calls are annoying... I use my speaker phone, and speak to them nicely so I can set my record on my cell phone, then let them know that our call is being recorded, then I got them so mad that they called back, boy do I get to tell them where to go, what I'd do to there family and children...they don't like me, because I talk up a dirty storm, like a sick psycho -

called to inform me i had a virus from amazon...funny I've been getting spam from amazon...good thing i figured it was a scam.

A guy called us today, he told me he is calling from "Microsoft" Los Angels (local number is in NY!).  He mentioned that my PC is infected by virus or malware and my XP sent error message to Microsoft tech support.  Wait!!  I have no XP!  Then, he just hung up.

I recently decided to answer one of those annoying calls (we have call display) and what I did was answer saying "Good afternoon, you have reached the ....(put here your local police station name) and then follow with "how may I help you"?   Guess what they hang up!!  Occasionally I also have a shrill whistle which I blow into their ears.. it also deters. Have some fun and get them annoyed for a change :-)

Why these yahoos call Ontario, like so many other scam scum, and never leave a message - got a call today, now on call denial.  Why our governments don't do anything to stop these con artists and sharletans is beyond me.

An East Indian man tried to me he was calling from Windows. I knew what was coming but the call disconnected before I could say anything. I would have yelled at him and told him he was a liar and a scammer!

The so called Microsoft tech only lasted 51 minutes! I quickly made a limited account called "busted looser" and even had a notepad saying he was busted and let him connect to "show" me some stuff about the infection and then I killed the wireless signal and claimed that my computer screen went blank. I asked him if he did it which he denied and I said OMG there is smoke coming out of my computer, he asked if I smoked, so i played it off and said oh wait it is coming back up, he then proceeded to offer a 2 year plan for $150 or lifetime for $210. To throw red flags I took a old credit card and gave him the info and even stated my street was 1823 Dumb Ass LN and when he asked for my phone number he said he had it but had to varify so I gave him 304-123-4567. I gave him the card number 3 times and it failed, he then asked if I could Western Union him the money but I said uhhhhh never done that before and he hung up. I am such a troll
