This caller leaves a voicemail that says its Verizon calling about a change to my account. Only they say someone else's name and phone number.

had the same thing happen to me, didn't stay on the line long enough to listen to the name or number.

Called me and sid they had to talk about changs in my account , But I  never changed anything

Verizon wireless bill payment message but caller ID reflected Amer Red Cross.

Spoke w/Verizon - they confirmed this is a scam.

Verizon Wireless calling to see how my service was with the phone call I made to them this morning.. wanted to make sure that all of my questions were answered and the rep was helpful and courteous.  Yes to all!!

This Verizon Wireless' automated collections system, they are trying to collect a debt. These calls are made when a bill is two months overdue. If you call the 800 number, you get a message to that effect with a another number to call to pay it. Or just use *226 on your phone and follow the prompts, the calls will stop when you pay your bill, or at least the old portion of it.

Got a call from this phone number - caller ID clearly sates American Red Cross - I answered and the recorded voice said this is Verizon Wireless - there is a change in your account status.

Its not a scam . The verizon person you spoke with is either clueless or was instructed to tell people that in order to not get busted.  There are a bunch of threads on this subject and your rhe only one saying its a scam.

I received a call from this number, except the caller ID showed "Amer Red Cross". It was actually Verizopn Wireless. I reported it the the FCC, http://www.fcc.gov/guides/caller-id-and-spoofing.

I received a call from this # 5 times yesterday and 1 time so far today. They say they are Verizon about a change to my account. NO changes made>>>

Got a call today - claiming to be Verizon Wireless about a change in my account status - but I hadn't made any changes. The message instructed me to call 1-800-249-2462 which I did not. I checked my Verizon bill online and everything is ok. Don't fall for this scam! Thanks to the other posters before me who alerted me to this scam :)

I also received the calls. When you first get a verizon account, they mention you will get a call from them about customer service. If you don't answer it, it will try again and again. You also get this call if you are behind on your bill.

has to be a scam. i don't have anything verizon and haven't had for over ten years because they are such an overpriced and overpaid bunch of lying cheats and my brighthouse service has been as good as verizon ever was and a lot less and no hidden fees or huge down payments to get started. my cell service has been outstanding since the last merge and i like my metro.  verizon isn't involved whatsoever.

my bill is two weeks over due and they called me today and yesterday.

I don't even have an account with Verizon so I'd like i know what changes they're making to a non existence account?
