They left us a message stating they were calling from the IRS.  It was our final call before the IRS started a lawsuit against us!  Everyone knows that the IRS contacts you via USPS.  Unbelievable!

Bogus caller purporting to give "final notice" of a tax prosecution by the "internal Revenue Services"--which, of course, is not the proper name for the IRS.  Moreover, the IRS communicates by mail, not by robo-call.

Received call from IRS with number of 585.492.8749 stating that I was being sued and a lawsuit had been filed against me.  It was a foreign male.  When I called back, I told them I worked at a law firm and that I had not been properly served with a lawsuit to which he proceeded to argue with me that I had been served.  Funny, when I mentioned law firm, he said he couldn't talk to me any longer and to have my lawyer call him.  Yeah, I don't think so.  A sheriff or process server properly serves a Complaint if you are ever in a lawsuit.  What a bunch of idiots.  Unfortunately, they sure know your name and where you live!  Don't fall for it, people.  If you are being sued, you will receive notification via mail and documentation via sheriff/process server!

Me too replies to Rose G.
I too received a call from 585.492.8749  a male with a very thick accent said his name was Daniel Smith, officer for IRS and then when I called back (my number blocked), he said he could not receive my call as my number was blocked (bogus right?).  I returned his call when I got to work and now his name is Shawn Wood (really?)  Anyway, he basically said he was calling me because the IRS was suing me for $2,633.18 for defrauding the IRS . . . and they are going to garnish my wages, attach a lien on my 401k, bank account etc., then he started citing penal codes.  I hung up on him.  I too work for a law firm and a lot of what he was saying did not make sense.  If you are going to get sued, a process server or sheriff would serve you with papers never ever call you.  This is definitely a scammer!  Don't take his call.

Got the same call. Knew my name and address and said someone was going to serve me in 45 minutes.  When no one showed up i called back and he got very angry and hung up. Then i called right back and he asked why i 'keep calling.'  I asked him who he was and who he worked for.  He got very upset and started cussing about my mother and father and pretty much every word was a cuss word.  It was funny sounding because of his accent. So i was laughing which on infuriated him more. Please call him and upset him, it is funny.  Also i contacted the FBI.  I encourage you to do the same since they are impersonating a federal agent (IRS.)

A man with a thick Indian accent called and told me he was from the IRS and I was receiving the call because I had been involved with tax fraud.  He asked me if I was aware of this.  I played along and said that no I was not.  He then said the most non-sensical thing: "Ok, I'm sending the police to arrest you."  I hung up.

Received the same type of phone call. Man with heavy accent called to tell me that I was being sued by
the IRS. When I started to ask him too many questions he hung up on me.

What is his scam all about?

Extortion is what it is about!  Most of these calls are coming from India and Pakistan.

Do consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $40.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.

Phone message claimed to be IRS and that a lawsuit was being filed against me. Returned call and person claimed to be with the IRS but seemed as though they were reading from a script. Person had limited use of English bordering on the comical.
