Received a call from this # claiming to be a law firm weinberg & assoc. in ny to collect on a debt over 10 years old. These jokers tried intimidation tactics, wanting me to pay them over $1,000.  Said I would be served with papers tomorrow if I didn't decide to make pmt arrangements by 7pm tomorrow.  Called me again within 30 minutes saying my conversation was recorded.  I told them I would investigate them first which led me to many web pages of complaints.  585-507-4788 also 716-980-1489. Anthony Martelli and Thomas Pane are their phony names.  They use VoIP its cheap and allows them to keep changing #s and area codes.  They've been reported to nys attorney generals office.  Do your research, and DON'T GIVE THEM $$$$ OR TIME OF DAY!   IT'S A SCAM!!!!  THEY'RE A DIRTY COLLECTION AGENCY POSING AS LAWYERS, COPS  WHO KNOWS WHAT ELSE.

This phone number gives a personal name and weinberg & associates and call my two daughters, one today on her cell phone and one on the 20th.  They state they are representing a defendant, that said they gave me a 1099 for 2008 and I haven't replied, and theky sent me documents, that say I did work for them in 2008, and if I do not contact them I could be charged with IRS Fraud, Needless to say, my daughters were scared to death and freaking out calling me to call these folks back, as they were agressive..
SO, They give a name to contact back and also.  I hope they have been reported.  Anyone else?  Please post

I kind of doubt they have the whole number. There's lots of way's to get information about you to some, but not all extent.

Know your rights, and apply them! File complaints appropriately! There's been a lot of extortion scamming going on like this, many of these outfits are so in violation of the fdcpa it isn't funny!  You might also want to contact your parents, and the outfit they paid off!  The burden of proof is on them btw!

Caller identified herself as Erica Jacobs with Energy Group.  Said the call was for (my name).  The conversation was hard to understand  but said there had been complaints filed about something in what I understood to be Cherokee County Texas, and for me to call back at 585-507-4788 extension 1027 regarding (242371?) and she would provide details on the complaints. I did not and will not call back after finding this information on the internet.

This anthony martellie character has called my wife ,mother and sister threatening them about calling the police , pressing charges, garnishing wages and tax fraud on a debt I have no knowledge about, the person had my elderly mother so terrified so I called him and he began to curse me out and argue with me. He threatened to keep harassing my elderly mother and continued calling even up to this current moment, saying I don't care about your sick mother. At this point we are doing everything we can to turn this person over to authorities and reporting to the better business burro . If you have any other information that could help us in stoping these crooks please share.
    Thank you !

friends, I got the same call and have gotten calls from others like this.  they threaten to show up and your house.   tell them to come on and get an a@@ whipping.   you cant just sue a person in this country.  there are papers and formal processes.  I am filing a online complaint with the FBI and will call miss Erica with energy back and let her know that I have filed with the FBI and with the state's AG.   you can do that online.   IF WE ALL DO THIS, IT ONLY TAKES A COUPLE OF MINUTES TO GO ONLINE AND FILE WITH THE FBI, WE CAN make a difference because you know they have scammed and scared people

Funny that I too searched this # just to get a little info before I returned her call but I have to say I  had a completely opposite experience. Erica not only listened to me complain about the debt my ex-husband left in my name for a half hour but offered me a settlement of over half the balance. My paid in full letter was emailed to me immediately and I found the experience fairly painless. I care about my credit and if I can save a little $$ in the process its a win win for me. I realize their are always some bad apples out there but Erica Jacobs was definitely not one of them. If people took responsibility for their unpaid debt instead of looking to the FBI to save them they might be surprised at how their credit lines open.

You crooks never give up do you? Sites like this make it tough to extort a buck from your urine-soaked boiler room!

Did you always want to be fraudster when you grew up, or was it brain damage or drug addiction that drove you to it? Your parents must be sooooo proud!

Nice try shill!  Now back to the boiler room for you!  How stupid do you think consumers are?  (I understand the IQ's in the boiler room barely break freezing).  Pretending to be some debtor giving others lectures about personal responsibilities.  Just save your life coach for you talk off meeting okay!

lol. Kind of funny but I actually work as a nurse's aid wiping [***] all day. I'm not saying you didn't have a bad experience, I was just speaking of mine. I can't imagine having to get people to pay their bills all day. I'd kill myself. Good luck to you all!!

I'm a collector and have been for 10 years. I work in a beautiful office and collect delinquent credit card debt. Just because someone is bringing an unpaid account to your attention doesn't make them scum and doesn't mean there sitting in some dirty dingy "boiler room". I'll bet every one of you screaming about your rights are deadbeats who take total advantage of the system. I'll bet you all have multiple liens and judgments against you. If we could bring back debtor jail you'd all have life sentences/ Who are you kidding?? Have some pride in yourself and pay your bills instead of playing victims. Walmart takes thousands of complaints a day...bet you still shop there every week. Were not selling you something!! IT"S YOUR DEBT!!! Get a job and maybe you won't have time to complain on here!!
