I received a phone call from a guy today with a very thick Indian accent, stating his name was Kevin Johnson and there was a "discrepancy" with my taxes.  He asked me to write down his number so I could call him back and gave me this number.  As soon as I repeated this number back the line went dead.

Received a similar call  as above from someone who identified himself as Frank Watson with a thick Indian Accent about discrepancy with my taxes. When I called back, the responder identified himself as Adam Spenser and asked me to leave a message.

Received a call from 585-633-5395 from a Ben Parker with a very heavy accent wanting me to call about my tax decrepancies.

Yawn... This is another small-time foreign scammer with a cheap magicJack phone pretending to be in the US so he can pose as an IRS employee.

I just received the same call today from a lady with a very heavy Indian accent claiming to be an IRS agent. I could only make out about 70% of what she was trying to say.

I called back, no one answered and was asked to leave a message.

This is definitely a scam. BEWARE!

You are being called by foreign, and domestic criminals. Want to help cut off the scammers money? Please do these 3 things: (1) Do not answer numbers you do not know (2) Do not call back numbers you do not know (3) If you MUST take the call, hang up right away if it's someone you do not want to talk to. Scammer can't scam you if they can't talk to you, right?

Yes indeed the number is listed from Magic Jack, I used the Phone validator  -- http://www.phonevalidator.com/ for conformation. Thanks for your validation resource, someone should report this number to the authority and stop this scamming.

My wife received a call from the same number.. They threatened to come and arrest her in 2 hours and revoke her license, take away the house and cars.  Unless she pays $4625.55.  I have called them out in the scam and curse them out.

Yup, this [***] has called me for 2 days -- at 7:30am, mind you, which really pisses me off !  He has a very thick Indian accent that you can barely understand, claims to be from the IRS and states that if I don't return his phone call on this "time sensitive matter", then all he can do is "wish me good luck"!  HAHA!  I did try to call back, however, it goes to a voicemail with a full mailbox....IRRITATING !

I just received a call from this number. His name is Allen Parker, he claimed he is IRS employee,he also has very strong Indian accent. He ask me to call 585-633-1792 ask for Kevin Johnson for my tax issues. I didn't call Kevin but I call IRS,. IRS told me that if they want to contact me they will send a mail but not by phone. It's a scam! ! Beware!

The same joker called me this morning about back taxes, wishing me luck in finding an attorney to resolve my problem, which of course is time sensitive....
Most IRS matters are handled by mail....
I wish that I could have this idiot arrested for fraud and harassment!

An individual with a thick Indian accent claiming to be David Cook from this number told me he was from the IRS and that I was under investigation.  He gave me an IRS (supposedly) badge number of 9099-3851 and when I questioned him as to his authenticity and repeatedly told me he didn't have to prove himself to me.  He wanted me to call Adam Spencer at 585 683 5395.  When I questioned him as to the normal procedure of the IRS sending out a letter first he got belligerent.  At this point I knew he wasn't from the IRS and told him I was going to call the Police.  SCAM

multiple calls between 7.30 am and 9.00am  indian accent person saying he is irs agent saying i owed money to irs they cops comming to  arrest me seized my property .

Similar call this morning at 9:19 am on 3/3/14.  585-633-5395 showed up on my caller ID.  Told me I had to call back the IRS.  

Just got the same call, threats about back taxes.  When I said I had no tax issues he said then why did he have an investigative file in front of him with my addresses and social security number. I hung up and after three call, it stopped.

Received a couple of calls today and sounded like it was a recording with a very bad accent claiming to be from the IRS. When you call back it just rings or says the extension is on another call.  I called back just to tell him to kiss my [***] ...

WASHINGTON — The Internal Revenue Service today warned consumers about a sophisticated phone scam targeting taxpayers, including recent immigrants, throughout the country.

Victims are told they owe money to the IRS and it must be paid promptly through a pre-loaded debit card or wire transfer. If the victim refuses to cooperate, they are then threatened with arrest, deportation or suspension of a business or driver’s license. In many cases, the caller becomes hostile and insulting.

“This scam has hit taxpayers in nearly every state in the country.  We want to educate taxpayers so they can help protect themselves.  Rest assured, we do not and will not ask for credit card numbers over the phone, nor request a pre-paid debit card or wire transfer,” says IRS Acting Commissioner Danny Werfel. “If someone unexpectedly calls claiming to be from the IRS and threatens police arrest, deportation or license revocation if you don’t pay immediately, that is a sign that it really isn’t the IRS calling.” Werfel noted that the first IRS contact with taxpayers on a tax issue is likely to occur via mail
Other characteristics of this scam include:
Scammers use fake names and IRS badge numbers. They generally use common names and surnames to identify themselves.
Scammers may be able to recite the last four digits of a victim’s Social Security Number.
Scammers spoof the IRS toll-free number on caller ID to make it appear that it’s the IRS calling.
Scammers sometimes send bogus IRS emails to some victims to support their bogus calls.
Victims hear background noise of other calls being conducted to mimic a call site.
After threatening victims with jail time or driver’s license revocation, scammers hang up and others soon call back pretending to be from the local police or DMV, and the caller ID supports their claim.
If you get a phone call from someone claiming to be from the IRS, here’s what you should do:
If you know you owe taxes or you think you might owe taxes, call the IRS at 1.800.829.1040. The IRS employees at that line can help you with a payment issue – if there really is such an issue.
If you know you don’t owe taxes or have no reason to think that you owe any taxes (for example, you’ve never received a bill or the caller made some bogus threats as described above), then call and report the incident to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration at 1.800.366.4484.
If you’ve been targeted by this scam, you should also contact the Federal Trade Commission and use their “FTC Complaint Assistant” at FTC.gov.  Please add "IRS Telephone Scam" to the comments of your complaint.
Taxpayers should be aware that there are other unrelated scams (such as a lottery sweepstakes) and solicitations (such as debt relief) that fraudulently claim to be from the IRS.
The IRS encourages taxpayers to be vigilant against phone and email scams that use the IRS as a lure. The IRS does not initiate contact with taxpayers by email to request personal or financial information.  This includes any type of electronic communication, such as text messages and social media channels. The IRS also does not ask for PINs, passwords or similar confidential access information for credit card, bank or other financial accounts. Recipients should not open any attachments or click on any links contained in the message. Instead, forward the e-mail to phishing@irs.gov.

Yes I received a call from this number on my phone saying that they were from the IRS and that this was a time sensitive call, I should call back right away or have my attorney call them. I called back gave the person answering the phone a few choice words about calling my home with this nonsense.
