Called twice; hung up after one ring and then after three rings

It's after 8PM on a Saturday night and these jerks are calling me.  They did the same thing yesterday.  We do not answer calls we don't recognize and they have not left messages.  Cnam says "Research Center".  

They are using a number assigned  through the provider Global Crossing Telemangement in Armada, MI.  This company is a know "slammer" and caters to spammers.  Numerous complaints are on file for them about fraud, harassment, illegal telemarketing, etc.

I'm adding their number to my call blocker blacklist so I won't be bothered by them again.

Called 2/7, 2/8, 2/9, 2/10 dont leave messages. If you pick up they hang up. Getting to be a real annoyance.

Someone just keeps calling at different times of the day and on the second or third ring I answer hoping to tell them
that I am not interested in calls that are not identified .  Yet there is no one there when I answer but message states
blah blah and then call ends.   If I do not answer they have never left a message.  I answer to determine whom is
calling and ask them to remove my number from their list.  Armada Mi is nothing that I would have ever been associated
with and if someone would simply respond to my answering then I would simply consider the aggravation of telemarketing
as something that you just put up with until you get them to stop calling yet it would seem that they still just pass your
number to one of their associates for some other artist.    I think that its a lack of knowledge to think that in today's
tech system that nothing can be done by authorities to stop these people but they simply won't .   Why not?

Another survey.

Calling cell phone and letting it ring once and immediately hangs up when you answer. Robo dialing?  I blocked this number with my cell phone company after getting 4 calls in one day.

Called 3 times but phone didn't ring... starting to get a little scared.

called last night but did not leave message. Called tonight while we were gone, and left a message asking to speak to "a registered voter", so apparently some kind of political survey.

Well, it appears to be a political survey, which is exempt from the do-not-call laws (written by politicians, surprise!). But even if it were not, they could be calling from out of the country, and there is little that the law can do about that.
What would you propose to block unwanted calls, that would not be an obtrusive invasion of privacy for the rest of us, or subject legitimate but unpopular people to denial-of-service? I'm serious. Propose a solution.

keep receiving calls from this number and did not answer them. After reading this forum, I called this morning and received a recording that stated they were "Mountain West Research Center", some type of political survey. The recording directed me to a website.  They call all day and night. This is very annoying.

Could they know when we are using xbox live?  That is when the phone rings.  They also asked to talk to the YOUNGEST adult in the home.  I told them that they could not and she hung up.

Have received several calls from this number, different days, different times of day.  When we answer, no one there, hear a definite hang up click.  Have put them on blocked list.

Another robo-caller. Either a telemarketer or a scammer of some sort.. Block them if your phone has that feature. If you have an Andriod cell phone, there's a good call blocker called; "Mr. Number".. That's what I use to stop these annoying calls...

After getting harassed by these people a total of 8 times the past 3 nights (usually during the 7 pm hour and half of them last night) and from reading what some of the earlier posts (this "research center" and wanting the "youngest voter") have said, I've a strong inkling that this is related to deadline for Obamacare open enrollment and yet another 3rd-party, independent "business" is overstepping their boundaries in doing the dirty work.

Two calls from this number this evening:  ~5:30pm and just now at 8pm.  I did not answer and they did not leave a message.  Also had several similar calls from this number this past week.  

As many others are doing, I now monitor all my calls and only pick up when I recognize the number or recognize the person when they leave a message.

Just completed a poll with this company. They asked for me by name, which I told them was odd since most pollsters don't ask for respondents by name. I was asked questions about candidates for the MD House of Delegates race and candidates for governor. But then it became clear that it as a push pull to discredit a candidate by the name of Jonathan (I don't remember his last name). As soon as I asked "is this a push poll," the caller tried to confirm my name again and said the survey was over. They were calling all week at all times of the day before I finally picked up. I don't mind participating in polls as long as they're legitimate. This one clearly is not.

Just recd. a call from this number wanting household information...told them this is SUNDAY and quit calling and bothering me...female was very persistent so I became ignorant and gave her a ear full...they just don't take NO for a answer ....I am on the national  "DO NOT CALL LIST" but that seems to be worthless....Hope they got the message I gave and pass it on...
