craigslist scammer. and not a very slick one. Just a fool

Craigslist scammer   Just tried to scam me 5/12/2014 said his name was "James".  

Same routine from James by text.  Deposit the money in PayPal, send a truck for pick-up.  I listed a large item on CL in N. California, which I'm sure can be obtained a lot closer to Michigan without the cost of 'sending a truck'.

Received call wanted to to pay through paypal. Luckily, I read post based on this phone number from james. SCAMMER!

Just got the same kinda deal, paypal and shipping company...

So this is currently happening to me as well. For the people who got scammed, what exactly happened?

Inquired about saxophone im selling in Houston tx. Said was satisfied with price. Tried arranging pick up and PayPal. Did not fall for it.

He ends up sending false emails claiming they're from paypal. He claimed that he put 570 in my account, when i only asked for 100. He said that the remainder was for the shipper that i had to go to a western union to pay personally. Then when i got upset about the situation he threatened that paypal was calling the FBI on me. HAHA. i lied and told him i spoke to paypal and they confirmed that his emails were false, i didn't hear anything back after that.

Just had the same from him on a car. Asked for a copy of ID for notary and havent head back.

He texted me today.  I've heard of the paypal craigslist scam before, thank goodness.  Said he likes to pay with paypal and will send a "shipper".

"James" just tried to pull the same stuff with me for a pair of speakers that I listed on Craig's List. The phone number that he is using is from Sterling Heights, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit.
He texted me several times with the same lines - "satisfied with price" - "Will pay via PayPal and arrange for shipping as soon as payment is received by seller." Sure, it is a scam but to what end? He allegedly is trying to pay me, not get paid by me. It makes no sense what-so-ever. I think that "James" is just a guy with way too much time on his hands and can think of nothing better to do than to bug honest Craig's list people. "James," if you are reading this, you need to get a life. You're a total a**hole.

Had a text message from 1-586-888-8948 in response to a Craigslist post. Offered to purchase via pal and have some else pickup. After receipt of invoice, he sent a fake payment email claiming he had paid more than the purchase price (twice the amount). the email given was jamesharris240@gmail.com. got suspicious and googled the number and saw these other complaints. Hope he burns. What a waste of time. Seller beware.

Just got a text from this James guy and immediately googled his number and read the post. Thanks to all! He said the same thing about paypal and having a mover come out. I actually want to see if he sends a mover just to speak with them and possibly busting this guy so he can go away for some years bc I know he's probably making a living from taking advantage of people

just got a txt in reponse to a CL ad. i think its automated. i dont think its an actual person. sorry guys but we been duped.

I'm finished with that [***] Craig's list nothing but scammers and crooks never had a legit transaction
I'm calling FBI as well

Tried to scam me today; got a text from "James."  Googled the number and found this.

Same MF, best to do, file a report in http://www.ic3.gov/default.aspx

Got a text after a CL ad. Used a fake PayPal email that overpaid and wanted a Moneygram for the difference. Since he got my address, phone number, and email I contacted the FTC and ic3.gov (FBI internet crimes). FTC counselor said not to worry that he can't do anything with said info and they are going to move on to next scam. Here's the info: jamesharris240@gmail.com

Same story different day.  Rec'd a text from James at 586-888-8948 located in Warren, Michigan asking about a very commonly available item you could get anyplace listed on Craigslist in Southern California.  Long trail of documentation indicating this individual is a Craigslist Scammer.
