CRB Shumate - 1 Nov 2007The caller this time asked for my husband ( who was at work at the time she called, 12:31 p.m.). I tld her she called the residential line. Then she said that she was for Conservative Womens olictical Action Group, forum etc.
Why my husband would be a member, I don't know. I told her that the organization was a anit-abortion group and tht my husband and I ae both pro-choice and to take us off her list.
However, after reading the previous post, my guess is tht the caller was not from a Consrvtive Women's forum at all, but probbly a scam artist tying to scam the pro-lifers. Just about 90% of the people in this are are pro-life, so if hse made a pro-life spiel, she probably would be able to exact some kind of donation scam. At any rate, I thought I would pass it on. It's either more Pro-Life organizational solicitation or a scam in the name of a Conservative Women's movement.
BTW, I am also on the Do Not Call List. I understand that survey research, calls from candidates and charities are exempt from the list. However, I don't thnk a Conservative Women's Action groups qualifies. That's just llke any other telemarketer!

Toots - 18 Oct 2008That's nice but what about the 'other victim' ? For those who don't know what I'm talking about, it's the "baby". If you were 'that' baby would you want somebody to have aborted you - regardless of the circumstances?
The woman who is to be admired is the one who makes the choice NOT to abort. The child did nothing wrong so why further perpetrate the crime of rape by murdering an innocent baby yet to be born? Why does nobody talk about that? The fetus (baby) is a human being - even if 'some' refuse to acknowledge that. Shame on you - not everybody thinks as you do so don't assume you've cornered the market on truth....you haven't. What do you think the baby would say if it had a voice to speak - what if you were that baby? Well I'll tell you...the baby would plead to have a chance at life - regardless of the circumstances.

Individuals need to be respectful of each other and not resort to name-calling simply because they feel strongly on important issues. Thanks to all for the great feedback concerning the above number - it was very helpful. I will be blocking that number on my caller ID going forward.

Leroy - 18 Nov 2008I got the call today. The caller asked me if I was pro-choice or pro-life before he identified himself. When I said pro-life, he started into a long spiel about how we had just elected a very pro-abortion president and blah, blah, blah, etc. and how they needed money to fight him. I told him I didn't send money to people whom I don't know and who just call me up.
I suspect that if I had told him I was pro-choice he would have read to me from the "pro-choice" script and solicited money to fight the radical right wingers.

Because we have friends traveling through the Phoenix I tried to call back twice and got a fast buxy signal both times. Then I called our firend's cell phone - they had not placed the call.

CRBShumate - 1 Nov 2007I got the call form Conservative Womens' Political Action whatever, today at 12:31 p.m.. I identifed them as an anti-abortion group and told the caller that my husband and I were both pro-choice, and to take our names and numbers off her list.
However, if the same (sending)number has been used for Bible selling scams, etc, it could also be used for any kind of scam legitimately or illegitmatley in the Right to Life movement. So did the call come from internet gypsies or pro-life religious crazies? Neither one sounds good!

Rae - 20 Feb 2007Im only 12 and every time i pick the phone the person hung up... it freaked me out so... i looked it up and his/her name is available... wierd... and "it" lives in Pheonix Arazona... but yeah im going to stop answering now... its freaking me out though, i thought i was the only one but i guess not
