Received a call from 602-433-4099 (on caller ID) claiming to be APS, the electric company in Arizona. They said my account was past due and an immediate payment was required to prevent disconnection. They want you to go to a nearby business and purchase a pre-paid card, then call 844-433-4099 to make payment with the untraceable card. Don't fall for this scam, call your actual power company and confirm before believing anyone.

I had this happen the same way. APS is doing a great job of advertising this scam on their website, www.aps.com and in local AZ media. I'm thankful they are looking after their customers. Thanks APS!!

This is a CONFIRMED scam. Be warned: The caller's may call you from numbers that spoof a company's real number(s)
and may expand beyond the above user's reported power company scam. NEVER PAY ANYONE asking for money over the phone - especially when they demand pre-paid cards, credit card numbers, money orders, or bank transfers. ALWAYS WAIT FOR A DOCUMENTS IN THE MAIL, as ALL debt collectors are required to notify individuals in writing before action is taken. Also - hang up and login to the website to see your bill first...or hang up and call the company that these individuals claim to be. USE YOUR HEAD.
