Collection agency. Said the call was 'VERY important'

This number keeps calling here but the person that keep asking for is not here.  The number is 602-567-7000 but it shows up unknown. American Express

A collection agency that "buys" batches of closed accounts that have back debt from american express.

The message says "This is an urgent call for ______ in regards to an outstanding debt." I've been getting calls from this number for about two years now. I have no outstanding debts. I get a recording that I can't understand the person I have tried the option that its the wrong number but it calls over and over again. It just shows the phone number on the ID.

The call is from Nation Wide credit and is done from random numbers or the last name they are looking up. In most states this random calling is ILLEGAL and should be reported to your State Attorney General. They can get some hefty fines, as they have been instructed to stop doing this.

This number called my house.  They were asking for my mother who has an old debt with American Express.  My mother is sick with alzheimer's and I told them that long ago.  Now they are harassing me.  I don't live in the same state and I don't owe the debt.  They left a message, I didn't answer the call.  She said her name was Irene and her phone number was 877-354-8148 x3006.

Only after being asked, caller identified herself as Angelica with American Express.  I believe by State an/or Federal law, they're supposed to divulge that information within 15 to 30 seconds.  I had recently made three post-dated payments over the phone on an Optima Account after receiveing letter with phone number (877) 354-8148 from M. Ghazavi Director of Collections offering an opportunity to regain membership.  The account had been charged off by AMEX in 2003 when I was un-employed for an extended period of time. However, I was only interested in paying off the debt.  Although the front of my electronic checks were marked American Express, I became suspicious when I observed the back of checks were marked "Guaranteed for deposit without signaure by NCI".  The latter is an acronym for Nationwide Collections, Inc.  I said that I would send future checks by mail to AMEX at their Fort Lauderdale, Florida address.  The caller (Angelica) said that was unacceptable and that my account would be turned over to an outside collection agency unless I set up more post-dated payments. She also refused to send a periodic balance statement even if I agreed to future payements.  I subsequently asked to speak to her supervisor and was placed on hold for 20 minutes until same person (Angelica) came back on line and said that all supervisor were in meeting.  It sure doesn't sound like American Express to me!  I think NCI is operating under the guise of American Express with the latter's full knowledge because it removes a lot of the stringent restrictions that most states impose on outside collection agencies.

Calls from 602-567-7000 is from Nationwide Collections in AZ. They are a collections Agy. for many credit cards. If you have bankrupt have your Attorney contact them to stop the calls. Keep a detailed account on the name of the person that called and the telephone number listed when they called and the times, so your Attorney has all the information from their harrasment calls.

I have a disputed balance with American Express. I have agreed to the "balance", but not the fees. This is the 3rd company I have had saying the represent American Express. This is the 3rd company where the callers speak little to no English, and know nothing about American collection laws.  Seems to me, American Express isn't the great American company they would like people to think they are. Just know that in EVERY state in the USA, you can FIRE any collection agency, and only deal with the company in which you intended to do business with!

Calls at 7:00 a.m. Pacific time every morning.

This number usually calls twice a day. Now that I see it is from NCI ( American Express used collection agencey), I get discusted. After my husbands long year of unemployment, and many attempts to make payments on my account, which no one would accept unless paid in full. I finally recieved a letter, to pay half now, and make 5 equal payments for the rest. I made half of the payment as agreed, and sent them the agreed schedule for payments. I recieved a letter back that stated to pay the rest of the balance in full, or they are getting an attorney. Well I know attorneys are easier to deal with than these people. I say "Go ahead!" They are liars.

This number calls my cellphone and when I answer there's a few seconds of silence then their end hangs up. This is just one of MANY numbers that calls my cell. Ever since I got my number I get collection agency calls for "Tim" and "Chien Feng"....idk who those people are. I just got a bad cell number, I guess? Ugh.

Got a call from this number but they did not leave a message identifying who they were.  All I heard was the sound of someone typing on a keyboard.

Got a call today on my cell phone from this number, i didn't answer it in time, but when i tried to call it back the number just kept ringing and ringing...no one or nothing picked up

Looks like they are at it again.  My suggestion is to consult an attorney and make arrangements with the original creditor.  Do not negotiate with Nationwide.

This call came in on my cell phone, but I missed it.  Caller left no message.  I didn't recognize the number, so I looked it up.  Most ppl on here seem to think that it's a collection agency that works w/ AmEx, which is wierd, since I don't have an account with them.  Seems completely random to me !!
