Just got a call then it hung up, said nothing

I called the number back and he said he is from the fraternal order of police.  I hung up on him.

Sunday eveing 6:30....I just hung up with no comunication since I didn't recognize the number.

good old fraternal order of police. my dad once told them he would never donate to them and to stop calling. the "officer" on the other end said "well, maybe next time you call us, we won't show up". what a nice guy. this happened in the 80s, hope they have some nicer people calling nowadays...

The FOP in my state use 3rd party callers.  They hire a tele-fund raiser and they get paid a percentage of their collections.

602-635-3897  just  called ~ showed  on  caller  id  as  " Portfolio  Recovery "  ~  left  no  message.

beware!   a  call  from  this  number  is  a  debt  collection  scam ~ they  are  phishing  for  info ~

give - them - nothing.

Confirmed. It is Portfolio Recovery now.

Keep getting calls from them at my office number.  They don't leave a message.  Caller ID shows "Portfolio  Recovery"
so I have answered it one and called them back a couple of times.  Maybe one day they will get me off their call list because they are asking for the wrong company in the wrong city.  

ANOTHER PORTFOLIO NUMBER ~  These A$$Holes BUY old bills that are far past the legal time limits....... they even BUY PAID bills...... but still try and confuse and scare consumers ~BEWARE THEY ARE CROOKED SCUM SUCKERS !!!!!

Portfolio Recovery. Nastiest and most unscrupulous debt collectors out there. They call me three to four times a week to try and collect a PAID medical collection from 14 years ago.

Yet another number from the Portfolio number pool calling to try to scam you out of your money!! Guess I have another number to block from calling my phone!

Same here - however, in this latest round of phone numbers picked up by Portfolio, my spam filters have been catching and blocking them.

I started getting calls from this number! I have no idea what they want but it's a collection agency that wants money and gathering information or trying to get info on you be very CAREFUL WHAT U SAY.

These people are calling late at night and have upset my whole family.

Portfolio recovery will NEVER leave you alone or stop calling you! They are scum of the earth!!

I have repeatedly told  Portfolio Recovery NOT to contact me by phone but via mail. To, this point they threatened to send someone to my home and they were waned against that. At tis point, I have informed them any further calls WILL be documented and given to an attorney for which the debt is discharged and they have to pay treble damages to me should they violate.

Calls from this number nearly everyday, several times a day.  No message is ever left.  I don't answer calls from numbers I don't know.  Caller ID says Portfolio Recovery.

if they call your work, all you have to do is tell them "this is a place of business, it is illegal to call, cease and dissist". If they continue, they can be sued because its against the law to call your work.

This guy called from Portfoio, he was really nice.  He said someone whose name kinda sounded like mine had this debt of $45 from 12 years ago, but now it had increased to $325.  He thought I was that person but I'm not, but then he said he was sure it was me, and he wanted me to pay it, but I was going to get into trouble if I argued it with him.  Well, that sounded completly legit, so I paid him without asking any more bothersome questions.  I even tipped him an extra $100 for his hard work.......then the Portfolio sleaze woke up and realized it was all just a wonderful dream, and trudged off to his miserable dead-end collections job, thinking about whether anyone would even notice if he just jumped in front of a bus.  The answer of course is 'no.'
