Got a text from this number asking if the $425 I was asking for an item I'm selling on CL was negotiable.  Texted him back yes it is.  Received this text back "I would pay 400, will proceed with this purchase.  Am paying with a bank check at the moment so kindly text me the name to write on the check & the address to mail it out to, I won't also be able to come look at it to inspect the condition due to heavy work schedule. Pick up would be arranged after you have the check cashed."
Sounded like a classic scam to me so I put the number in here.  Came up with a long list of posts of this guy trying to pull check and money order scams on CL listings for over a year.  Other numbers he's used have been 903-443-7596, 405 757 691, 773-609-5629.  Some of the names he's used are Julius Palmer, Derek Baldwin, Colby Owen, Hollingsworth, Emily Blunt.  He's ripped off a lot of people with fraudulent, bogus checks.
I texted him back "I'd accept 400, but since there are a bunch of scam alerts about this phone number and the same check story I have to insist on cash or a US Post Office money order."  Surprise, surprise, that was the last I heard from him.
BEWARE, AND RAT HIM OUT ANYWAY YOU CAN.  HE'S A PREDATOR AND A CROOK.

Just got a similar text! It said "Is 350 the final asking price of your Bugaboo Cameleon Stroller w/ All Accessories  posted on Craigslist or is it negotiable because i am interested in purchasing

I received the exact same response from this guy for an item I am selling on CL. I text him to use pay-pal and guess what, no reply. He used this # 603-435-2071.

I just had a scam from this individual! I feel like an idiot but I guess I'm happy I found out before I went ahead with the transaction.  He texted me THE EXACT SAME TEXT as below!  I re listed my items for sale BUT I know now to #1 ask for CASH ONLY and #2 ALWAYS Google name and/or phone number.  I'm just very fortunate I realized it in time thanks to my niece!  This guy went by the alias Emmanuel Akins!!!!

Same as everyone else. Same exact thing to a tee. Then he tells me his personal assistant sent the wrong check so to send him the difference. I told him to f**k off and die. What a piece of slime, trying to scam people out of their hard earned money.

This same thing happened to me today!!! I went through with half of it but when I realized it was a scam I mentioned the police, never heard from him again!!

7/10/17 - He just tried the same lines on me and used Michael Coker as his name.  Used the 6034352071 number as well as 8504667920.   Beware of this dude...if it seems too good to be true than it most likely is....
