These scammers are also offering an apartment that I own for rent to other people. They placed an ad on Craigslist that says, "$500 / 1br - Well furnished $500US per month (Margarita Island Margarita)". The address of the apartment is the address of my apartment. Could everyone please do me a favor and go to the ad and flag it as "prohibited". Just click on this address http://caracas.craigslist.org/apa/820651109.html and select "prohibited" in the upper right hand corner. When enough people do that, it is removed from Craigslist. I have also had an experience with these people!! They tried to rent me a flat in Amsterdam,Holland!! Exactly the same story as below and they even sent me copies of their passports to "prove" that they were legit! I googled them too and found that they have also been scamming people in Sydney - they are an international team!!

be careful !!! these person are really bad and dark inside! they try to rent me a flat in australia and they asked me to transfer in one hour 800 dollars. hopefully I understood before. Their story is false and I think there are not their real identity!

I truly appeciate people like you who post these scams on line. Without you i would not have known about this new scam. And i am the perfect target. Out of the country and looking for something asap.
my mother is right, if it sounds to good to be true it usually is. But today i received an email from the Rev and his wife. what they sent you was verbatim but this time in a London.

Address : 15/19 Wood Street North Melbourne VIC 3051 is the address I have inquired about. The advert was placed on Gumtree Melbourne.  
I don't know how much english they understand as I replied to them letting them know that all their info has been forwarded to the Australian police along with the IP address but they still sent me info with fake passports of them both.
It takes all kinds in this world. :)

if you have been victima of a scam please notify FBI.  It is important  I did.

I just had a similar experience with these people. They offered me an apartment for rent in central London. Again it was too good to be true so I googled them and found this. Thank you for sharing your experiences, as it has been really helpful. I was lucky to find this before sending them the completed application form. It is amazing how people can do something like this using the name of God in order to trust their honesty... Amazing...

thankfully i searched the name spalinger...they put an advert on gumtree for a flat in Mayfair for £100per week! Way to good to be true!!

wow, same happened to me, for a flat in brisbane for 110 a week. i knew the price was ridiculous and too good to be true! lucky the alarm bells started ringing and i googled the name 'Rev Simon Spalinger'. thanks all for posting, spread the word.

the same story. they offered a flat in london, very good price, very nice pictures on homepage gumtree.com. received the same e-mails and trusted them. they wanted that i transfer money via western union. thankfully i had doubts. i got a call from simon spalinger no.: +23 47057564649. i found out that this is a no from the island mauritius.
i had really good luck that i found this out before i transferred the money. thank you for the notes!!!

They called about an apartment to rent and we gave them our details. They called to rent the apartment and cursed us and hang up. They want payment.

Have you tried to call the number? Would a scammer really give out their number? I had my own experience with that scammer today, exact same story, only trying to rent a place out in Vancouver.
