They called.  Didn't leave message.  Called back its Linkit Marketing of at least that what it sounded like.

Said she was from Launch Marketing and asked for GM.

caller id showed "Orene Sticke", but web search turned up other names.

Called our office.  Left message.  Alicia with Land Boss peddling some kind of software.

Got another call from this number where they didn't leave a message.

There was a different person's name on the caller-id, so it looks like they are randomizing that to increase the chances that someone will answer.

Asked for the marketing manager said they from Linkit or something like that. I'm guessing that it was a PEI accent (I asked her to call back) if so, it may have come from a call centre.

I did not answer the call as I did not recognize the name or the area code for this #.

Received a call from this number to our home number, which is on the DNC.  She asked to speak to the marketing manager.  CID was 605.413.4472 - Jessica Rumbolz.  She asked for the SOHO business at our address (different telephone number though).  She was asked repeatedly who she represents and after the third time, stated LinkIt.  (cf www.linkitdirectory.com).  when told this was not a business she asked for the number of the SOHO business and had to be told twice that we can't give that out.  Strange conversation.

Called and left a message: Brenda for Linked bussines solutions, offering marketing for webnars

They called left no message. "LI Business SyS" displayed on the phone as caller ID.

She told me her name was Susan from some kind of business solutions company. The reallly BAD thing is that the only place she could have found my phone number is from a domain name registration, so I know she's bogus.

The message left for me was from Lori at Blogtronix - supposedly a company that offers social media platform solutions.  Asked for a call back at 605-413-4472, x408.  The call came to my cell phone, which is random since my cell number is not a public number.  I googled the company, but they only list an 800 number on their website, not a local number.  And it doesn't appear that they are based in North Dakota like the 605 area code suggests.

An unsolicited call is received by a woman who leaves a long message in a sales queue - obviously tying up a line that a paying customer could have used, and proceeds to say the following - again this is completely unsolicited.

Hi, My name is Susan with Linkit business solutions. My number is 6054134472, ext 264. Our South Dakota [stumbles] Call Center specializes in developing qualified leads for business to business sales. We also schedule appointments, register people for [stumbles] seminars, [stumbles],  and webinars, update databases and a multitude of other business outsourcing services. Our clients reporting closure rates of 40% on leads we develop for them. Then repeats contact info, web info, etc.. 54 second unsolicited message.  Note that Susan did not indicate up to 40%, she said 40%. I wonder if they have the facts to substantiate this - again for an unsolicited call.

Got a call, picked up. Silence, then they hung up.

I am in Toronto, Canada.  I am on the DO NOT CALL list.  The name identified as Julie Symens.  The call came at 9:21 AM.  I did not pick up.  I heard the name...Business Solutions.

"Link It Business Solutions" - a California telemarketing firm that has a call center in South Dakota. Called despite the fact that I'm on the FTC "Do Not Call" list. Annoying and illegal. If they call you, please report to FTC.

They called my business number and pressed 1 for sales.

I then had to explain that pressing [1] is reserved for people who want ME to sell THEM something.

I told her I would transfer her to the right department.  I put her on HOLD for about 5 minutes and went back to the call.

I told her she needed to call back and press [6].  While I had her on hold I blacklisted her number on my PBX.  She tried calling back 6 times.  Each time she heard the ZapATeller sound and the call was terminated.  What Fun!!!

There is no way to "randomize" the name on caller ID.  The "Name" part of the caller ID is filled in by YOUR telephone provider.  While you can call with a random phone NUMBER, all name lookups are done by your phone service provider.
