- gbThey keep calling for someone we never heard of and won't stop. I do not answer the phone anymore because they get around the dead air calling by leaving a message you can't reply to. If I have to deal with them they will get a bill from me for investigative expenses. All they need to do is reverse lookup my phone number and see we are not who they are calling for.

- James W. Searcy| 1 replyThis number continues to call my cell phone. It is alot of dead air time and after about 15 seconds a voice comes on and asks for x to call back this number and says the number. When I call back they ask me who I am and I refuse to answer. When I ask then to identify themselves they (including the manager Adam Hall) refuse to identify the name of their company name, address are any information about there company. My cell number is on the national do not call regestry. I advised Adam Hall of this and he still refused to give me anyinformation about his company. What can be done here?

- Erin| 1 replyMessage left from this number says they are from a company called Capital Account. I googled that and from what I can tell they are from Nashville, and try to collect on debts that don't exist.
Everything I've read where people have talked to harassers from this company, all the 'employees' have generic names and are rude and unprofessional. All the signs of people trying to collect money that isn't owed if you ask me...- Caller: Capital Account
- RRGotten several calls from this number & so far they always leave a "dead air" message on the vm... A form of harassment! I have no idea who they are or shat they want.

- Jan| 2 repliesCapital Accounts out of Nashville, TN - They are a collection agency - I did owe the amount they started so I paid it. No threats or anything like that but he did say at first that they had called me a number of times (like 15 to 20 times) and that I had never answered. BUT, I did answer this number and another number they use 903-484-9278, and now that I see these numbers, I realize how sneaky they are - when I answered, it is always dead air. No one was ever on the other line, and I always hung up.
So as I was talking to the CSP, (who is just doing his job) and he said they tried contacting me - I countered with "Do you answer phone calls from unknown numbers?" - He said he didn't. And then I said, that neither of these numbers come up under Caller ID and he said that is because they are a collection agency....that they are highly regulated now. Fine. Then he said he would clear my Credit Report (all three agencies) within 6 weeks, but for them to do that, he would have to charge me a $5.00 service fee. After we were all done, he said he could clear my name and my credit. Not for a second do I believe them.- Caller: Capital Accounts

- northchr replies to Janfunny---my cell phone and my home phone rang with these two numbers at the same time---the 903 on my home phone and the 606 area code on my cell phone---I didn't answer either one. It has to be a scam. I don't owe any money. One more call and they get reported to the attorney general!
- capital accountsthey are criminals, thieves and identity steelers they find ssn and make up a bogus debt and try black mailing you into giving them money that is not owed and some suckers fall for it,

- John Guerrier| 3 repliesI have been receiving some harassing calls from this number 606-262-4728 as well. I am sick and tired of those collections agencies making those false claims in order to mess up people's credit files. Recently I was denied an employment opportunity with a big insurance company because of some adverse information that was found in my credit report. These thieves accused me of owing them $1609 and reported my names to Experian, TransUnion and Equifax. In fact this was untrue. I contacted those collectors and requested for a full investigation. Later on, I found out this debt was not valid because they could not provide me no verification about those claims. So, I forced them to take my name off from from these credit bureau. I believe this problem is causing by the tea baggers and right wing republicans. The Obama's administration want to pass financial regulations and stop those abuses from happening. In contrast, the tea baggers and republicans do not want regulations. This is the reason, I will never vote for those republicans again. These republicans folks just do not care about the middleclass.
- NicoleI have gotten calls from this place for years. They will call up to 4 times a day for months then I don't here from them for awhile and it starts back up. Normally they just ask for a Mary Hill, and then get mad at me when I tell them we have had this number for over 12 years and our name isn't even close to the one they are looking for.
Today was the first time I got the call with dead air, so I *69'd the number and got the 606 one. I called it back and the guy told me it was Capital Accounts and they were looking for Mary Hill. As calmly as I could I told him I have told them MANY times over the last 2 years I am not Mary Hill, no I don't know her and no she doesn't live here. (Yes they always ask if I know her then ask if she lives here, wow stupid!) I then told him if we ever revived a call from them again I would file a harassment lawsuit. He told me he took our number off the list (like they have told me almost every time over the last 2 years) but I'm sure I will get another call from them in the next few days.
I would imagine this is some kind of scam to get personal information, if not then this is a company full of incredibly stupid people.- Caller: Capital Accounts

- LouiseIf you believe that you are truly being harrassed for false debt from this company, then you need to file a claim with the Attorney General's office. The Attorney General is the one who investigates Debt Collectors. I used to work for a debt collection company and by law if they are looking for someone at your phone number who does not live there, they will always ask if you know them. They also have to follow the FDCPA. My advice, look up the FDCPA (Fair Debt Collection Practices Act) and familiarize yourselves with it. You can get them for a lot of things. For instance, they have to mention the "Mini-Miranda" at the beginning of the phone call so you know that any information obtained will be used for the purpose of collecting the debt not at the end. If you tell them to cease and desist calling your cell phone or something like that, then they have to by TCPA law. If you believe that they are coming after you falsely, then you need to get their address and the office manager's number and write them a formal cease and desist letter. Send it by certified mail so you know, 100%, that they received it.
To Jan: The $5.00 service fee for them to contact the 3 credit bureau's is bogus. It costs nothing for them to contact the credit bureaus. They most likely batch accounts at the end of the month, which is when they do their credit reporting, to update them.
To John Guerrier: You're delusional if you seriously think debt collectors come from the "Tea Party" and Republicans. The financial legislation that Obama proposed to pass that you think would regulate this, actually has nothing to do with the debt sector at all, but thanks for playing. The need for debt collectors came out of the irresponsible spending of a lot of Americans. Most people do pay their bills on time. Whether it be your mortgage, rent, CC bill, cell phone, etc. It's the ones who like to open up a credit card and max it out then think they don't have to pay it back that give the rest of us a bad name.- Caller: Unidentified
- Consumer Protection FanIt seems necessary, based on such anecdotal reports, to make an inquiry in to what connections if any this Capitoal Accounts company has to organized crime activity accross state boarders. Is it a mob or racket outfit? Do they have foreign financial connections? Has any member of management or ownership ever been arrested or sued. and for what? They seem suspect. For one, they clearly appear to be hiding their identity, location and prupose, a sign of criminal activity. This same sort of MO is indicative of drug and crime money launderers. . Perhaps they are charging illegal fees or engaging in wire fraud. Could it be that their employees are being encourged to commit collection law violations in order to finance and camoflouge a more sinister criminal enterprise? These managers and the company itself, it seems, require some long term investigation. If private inquiries indictae futher study and referal is warranted, then the evidence, if any, should be referred to Federal and State authorities. The civil and criminal discovery results in all law suits and cases filed against the company and/or its employees and owners personally should be saved and referred to the U.S. Attorney in the appropriate Federal jurisdiction and to W.D.C. Then, to the appropriate State Attorney Generals and consumer agencies. Then, after a number of such law suits have been filed and criminal cases referrals made, a summary file of the discovered and supportable facts should be sent to the appropriate State and Federal congressmen and senators, and to the financial institutions and companies that employ the company'a services. The supportable facts should then be postedt on all available social and business media. A BBB and Chamber of Commerce report should then be sought, and the result of that report should be sent to all persons and companies that engage or employ the company's services, together with the promise to not employ the services or buy the product of any customers of the company. This is all contingent of course on the finding of facts that legally support such action. A good place to start would be to hire the company/s services and get an insider's report of what they claim to do, and how they claim to do it, together with a referece of all their customer's they claim they serve. Infiltration and investigation should commence, if it has not already been underway for some time. The identity and location of all owners, stockholders and managers of the company should be ascertained first, together with their employment history, past litigation histoy, past history of arrests and convictions for crimes, and known criminal affiliates. The same is true for all their close family members, business partners and attorneys. There is treble damages for RCIO suits. Of course, every step must be taken in accordance with applicable law.

- John A replies to John GuerrierSuffering from these calls also targeting someone not living at this number... These appear to be real bottom-feeders trying to scare up some cash.
- joeI too have received messages for over 2 years now from Adam Hall himself and a dozen of his denizens. They claimed I owed an old debt from a bank whose account I closed many years ago. They won't stop harassing me and are threatening to take me to court. I just ask if I can speak to a manager and to cease and desist calling me. They have not.

- GayleI have recieved calls for a few days from this number. There is always a voicemail with no message, and the call showed it was coming from Pikeville KY I live in KY so I wasnt sure if it was just someone with a wrong number. Finally after the 3rd phone call I called back (Blocked My number) and asked who it was, The person asked what number they dialed and I asked again I would like to know who is calling before I give out that information. He hung up, I called back again and explained that I was just hung up on and that I was merely trying to figure out who was calling me. This person hung up as well. Im very spiteful when someone does something like that I get a joy out of being a Smartass essentially so I called back a 3rd time. This time a foreign woman answered the phone and was actually very polite and told me right up front who she was and where she was calling from without my phone number. So I naturally wanted to figure this out, I gave her my number and found out it was from and account that I had in my early years of college with US Bank who was always hell for me and many other people to deal with. But it was about money I owed to them for something they had made a clearance for in 2007 then when it didnt occur the way they said it would and it caused my account to go negative they put it on me. So ready to take care of the phone calls and the amount I set up a payment for the amount. I HATE bill collectors that are rude, and these folks are EXTREMELY rude hanging up on me two times. But oh well, its one less thing to worry about now. Better to face the situation.
