- receptionist| 2 repliesI am guessing they are looking to renew a magazine because they ask for the VP's Secretary or personal assistant.
- OT| 14 repliescaller ID reads "Lester, Inc." Appears to be some sort of tele marketing - publishing sales - and or customer service firm. Lester is world wide - this number is from their Kentucky Office. They won't leave a message - just breathing in the phone.
- Caller: Lester, Inc

- Vas replies to JohnyAgreed, they said same thing to me, then asked for my address to be validaed. I kept asking who it was and they hung up. This is someone trying to steal identificaiton. I think this info got out from CITI and EQUIFAX lost personal information on cu's and now in the hands of someone. Dont give out your info...
Vas - BrandyIf you have a subscription to a magazine, or had a subscription to a magazine (I think its trade magazines mostly) they are calling to get you to sign up for a new subscription.

- Mia2SenseNot Telemarketers but Trade Industry related typically you have signed up/requested information from, to avoid 3rd party Telemarketing pay attention when at sign up and request (by selecting or unselecting) the box that says you are interested in 3rd party offers.
Recv'd call, but no message left. I believe this to be from the Occupational Health & Safety Trade Magazine, which is legitimate, as I do get their trade email and trade magazine. I'm not sure about people spoofing their number in other cases, but having dealt with trade magazine, it is easy to tell if it is legitimate when they call. If legitimate they already have your information and only ask you for a confirmation of what they have listed (that typically you provided when signing up to receive information from them) - standard trade mags do this once a year or every 6 mths. Also, typically the information they are verifying is far from "confidential" and normally is just your first name, last name, title, mailing address, email, phone. Some trade mags will ask details about your company's sales volumes, type of company, etc. But if you do not feel comfortable answering, they tend to be fine with you stating that you do not release that information via phone (or saying, I provided that previously, tell me what I said and I'll let you know if it is right). I use the technique of "ONLY" verifying what they can tell me, so that I do not share any of my information (regardless of confidentiality level) with anyone to whom I did not voluntarily provide it previously.
P.S. If you sign up for Trade Magazines (regardless of Industry) then expect that they will contact you to verify your information and interest in receiving the free Trade Magazine information you requested electronically. It is a check and balance system so they only give out free copies to those actually interested or involved in their field (and how they keep their circulation information current).

- AnnoyedCaller ID showed up as "Lester Inc." as other people have stated. A very heavily accented woman asked for someone I could not understand......when I said "I'm sorry, who?" She responded "Yes"

- MarkThey are a magazine company that handles magazines for a number of charities. These are normally people who go door to door and a portion of the subscription goes to their school tuition. Normally, they forget to tell you that you'll get a call from the company to verify, but I was told and it also says so on the receipt. I was called legitimately and not as a cold or blind call. Check any magazine subscriptions or trials you may have purchased/signed up for to determine if this is the company calling to verify.
- gemAn Indian that could barely read from his script trying to get me to renew "Meeting Planner" magazine or something similar. Never wanted it, it means nothing to me. I told him to buzz off.

- Shades replies to OT| 13 repliesI mistakenly answered the phone and the caller ID was “Lester, Inc.”. The person on the other end said that Internet.com had a free newsletter or me. I told them to take my name and number off their list, blocked the number, and reported them to the National Do Not Call List www.donotcall.gov
- Barry L SalterA Gentleman from East India called offering me a free subscription to a technical magazine and began running off my personal information to verify who I am. I did not confirm valid or invalid but asked if it was in print or by email? He replied by email and I thanked him, said have a nice day and hung up. If it had been by print, I would have at least taken it for a season to see it but I get enough spam as it is now and don't read online magazines any longer at all.
I called back in to hear the company name, it's Lester Inc.

- annoyedEven though my phone number is already on the do not call registry and I also called Lester Inc to remove me from their list, they still call me. Of course it took them a few months after the last time I called them to remove me from the list to start calling again. I called them back today after they called me again and left a message to remove me from their list again and that I would call the attorney general of the state in which I live if I ever hear from them again.
- Caller: Lester Inc.
- Those were the good days~20 years ago, someone had typoed my name in a big way when I signed up with "North American Fishing Club" (wow, they're actually still around..), which I then had fixed quite promptly and never saw the typo again. (still got my old fixed card & iron on patch lol.) I had pretty much forgotten about it after all this time.. Imagine my surprise when I got a telemarketing call from "Lester Inc" asking for that name all these years later. Ahh, the memories that brought back. Heh.

- StewieOMG this number calls my work # all the time. It's some Indian dude and he's always asking for someone who does work here, but is rarely in their office, so it rolls over to me. I always tell them to leave that person a VM and they get all mad like I'm supposed to help them in whatever it is they need. Unfortunately since I can't block the calls, I have to take them. They call a few times a week and sadly the guy whom they are trying to reach avoids the call so they always roll over to me.
- JessicaThis number calls my office asking for someone who works at another company with a similar name (we get calls for them from time to time) after I told him twice he had the wrong company he then asked to talk to our CEO. I put him on hold just for kicks, then went back on the line and told him to talk this number off their list! I could barely understand what he was saying too through his accent and all the noise in the background. Scam scam scam...

- KelliIndian on the other end. Wanted to sign the owner of my location up for a free magazine. When I said she wasn't here, he asked if I performed administrative work for the owner. I said yes. And he wanted to verify information. I told him we are stopping all magazines from coming to our location as we do not read them. He insisted it would help with business. I insisted we do not read them so it would not benefit us. He continued...I said we were going green, he said there was a digital copy. I asked if I could just go on the internet to read this. He said email. I said i don't want it filling up my virtual mail box, he said that it was an email, (didn't understand what I was saying). I continued to say no, he continued to insist, I hung up on him.
I always wonder how far the people will go before they give up, but I usually give up before they do! lol- Caller: Lester, Inc.
