This # calls - never leaves a message. Pretty sure it's another call to my business line from someone who wants me to pay them for some service I don't need for online ads or optimization. Ugh

A recorded voice responds once you greet the call, saying they want to update your Google maps local listing.  Then states to press 1 to be connected, press 2 to be removed.

I pressed 2, but got a  long silence afterwards, and it did not sound like the other end hung up.  I eventually hung up.

Automated Google listing update request (not actually google)- they will not remove you from the calling list and keep calling.  If you press 1 to talk with them, and ask for the name of the company, they will hang up on you.

Rec'd junk call from 607-203-5524 - [2:40pm] - did not answer, no msg left. Reverse Lookup provided an unassigned number from somewhere in N.Y. Another website posted Bissell.

This is a spoofed, and unassigned number:
    http://www.wherecall.com/AreaCode-Exchange/607-203.htm?q=6072035524

Another website claims Bissell. What self-respecting business would resort to such tactics other than one that is ethically-challenged and has no morals...? Gee, that describes all of Congress!

I received a call saying that they were updating google and when they found out that i was not the owner  and only the manager they hung up on me . I tried calling back and when I pushed a number for customer service I got a recording that they would call me back. I think that is business  practice.

    Just some info:
This/these "Google update" scum call from a plethora of numbers.... as stated above, most are "unassigned".
I have a [***]-ton of them blacklisted in my Android Call Blocker app, and they keep on coming.  I suspect they are phishing them from your company web page... or worse yet, any yellowpages.com or similar type free listings you may have authored for your business. (nothing is free in life!)

I'll see if I can find the article again and post the link, but there is this A$$ that started a business of purchasing large "pools" of phone numbers, then "leasing" these numbers out to whomever wants to pay... effectively circumventing the US' "do not call" laws.  Since he or his corp is not the one actually doing the unsolicited calling, it doesn't fall under our current laws.

The fact that he himself is located in one state, his corp that purchases the numbers is filed in yet another state, then I believe he set up another corp in another state to sell the numbers, tells it all.  The mouse that beat the current mousetrap perhaps?

It's a shame.... the US government cares more about scum like the RIAA/MPAA worried about some kid downloading an mp3, than it does for the entire US population who get spammed constantly via unsolicited phone calls and emails... most of which are real scams in themselves.  Welcome to America folks!

Received the call, robocall told me I needed to confirm changes to my google listing. Obvious common scam.

1 to connect to a rep, 2 to be removed from the list. I've learned in the past how well 2 actually works so I hit 1 and the line instantly went dead.

If you press 2, it does not work, I think they interpret it to mean you want 2 times as many calls. Typing 2 verifies you are real and can sometimes open you to more spam calls.

Do Not Call Registry doesn't work properly anymore. I suggest Do Not Answer, which is what we do here. We have a business and 90% of our calls these days are junk. BTW this number came not more than one minute after another junk call came from 701-248-1374. Coincidence? I think not.

I have a couple of ways to deal with these parasites. First, I let the phone ring three full times before I pick up. I pick up and don't say anything for 2-3 seconds. If it is a computer autodialer, 80-90% of the time the computer will hang up thinking it has gotten a voice mail or answering machine. After 2-3 seconds, I say our company name, but don't give out my name. That way they don't automatically have a name if they call back and get someone else. If I still get a person and they insist, I tell them my name is "Richard Smith"(it's not). It is none of their business what my real name is, they are telescammers who are breaking the law. If they persist in calling over and over again, I tell them that my boss is available, and then I use a sports air horn right next to the phone. What are they going to do, sue me? "Your Honor, I was illegally telescamming and they deafened me!" Good luck with THAT argument. The judge might give me a medal. Reporting these "people"(I use that term loosely) to the Do Not Call Registry is futile, they are usually spoofing their phone number anyway. If you have the time, have some fun with them. See how long they will stay on hold or still be on the line if you put the phone down. Take your cordless into the bathroom and have an extended "deposit" at the Porcelain Bank, complete with very loud fake sound effects. Tell them you ARE the boss and listen to their sales pitch, never saying yes to anything, but always saying that you will look at your numbers and see what you can do. Some scammers will record any affirmative answer you give and then splice it into a call and bill you for whatever they are selling, using that as evidence of an order. Waste as much of their time as you can, because that keeps them from scamming other people, and it can be a really fun stress reliever! Anything that we can do to make this less profitable for these ticks on the butt of humanity is a plus. Feel free to pass this on or add to it with your fun ways of taking back your phone lines. If these idiots would get a real job, the world would be a better place for all of us.
