I received a call from this number about an hour ago. I didn't answer it. Apparently there are many 607 area code phone numbers calling everywhere in the US and other countries. Some of the scams are telling them they're going to be arrested if they don't give the attorney information etc. or pay a fee. Others are saying that they say they're from windows and their computer has a virus. These are all a scam. Unfortunately Verizon doesn't offer call blocking anymore. I am also receiving phone calls from 973-710-1680 at least five times a day. I never answer it. But others have stated it is a scam.

Just had a call from this number, listed only as NY. A rude, persistent woman insisted I give her my account number so she could change my NYSEG supply portion of my bill from variable rate to fixed rate. I would not give her that information.  I said I am not interested, but she persisted. However -- she had the wrong name as the account holder (the right address). When I told her that, she wanted to change the name too. I finally hung up on her. What kind of scam are they running I wonder!

Called Friday Dec. 27, 2013 at 2:53PM Only says NY 607-203-5623 and did not leave a message. My area code is 607 but after checking it out here very suspicious.

Was not home.  Number showed up on missed calls.  Don't know the person.  Don't want these calls.

Just got a call from these guys. Also been getting 888-8888. Seems as though the scammers and telemarketers can do whatever they want. There's no way to stop these calls ???

 Received a call from them - something about changing my rate for electricity.  It's not the power company calling.  I hung up on them.

Scam call, not leaving a message get these calls all the time they want to make sure a person lives at these addresses or numbers first of all then they will call again and try and course info out of u as. Birth day banking by posing as left. Bank others its all about gaining access to your accounts and stealing your identity. Don't give info to people ever or call a bank directly and ask if they need your info, they never call you at home and ask for .  Account info over the phone...be aware.Don't answer calls u don't know norm. I have received a call from this number 3 times in the last week.  I have not answered and no message is left.  I live in the Buffalo, NY area.  

Was not at home and don't know the person. Don't want these calls! How can we report these to stop these calls? I am from Buffalo area also.

Likewise, I live in the Buffalo area. Second call from 607-203-5623 within the last three days. Didn't answer and they left no message. Tuesday 01/21/14 @11:45AM. Annoying!

Received a call from (607) 203-5623 today about 2:15 p.m.  Caller insisted that she wanted to speak to the person who made decisions on the NYSEG account.  This is not the first time I received such a call. No information available other than the call came from Binghamton, NY

They don't leave any msgs, but when you pickup its garbage in - garbage out scenario. A total unmitigated scam, if you call you get the "Customer Control Center" press one to speak with a Client Adviser - advise you to not do that ... the crooks get more crooks to go after their prey - which be us-en's .......

Received a call from this number, called said her name was Courtney something or other, calling on behalf of supplier to NYSEG etc. etc.  She referred to at least 3 different company names, said she was calling for the State of NY.  It all sounded strange to me.  I asked for a number to return call, she gave me 888-744-8125.  I tried to call NYSEG to find out what they know but due to the holiday, their offices are closed.

This board is simply a sounding board for people to vent and inform others of scam telemarketing calls they receive.  There is no authority associated with the 800notes site to stop these callers.  In order for people to collectively stop these type calls they must act together - and TAKE ACTION!  It doesn’t do any good to complain about a caller on this board unless you then take the next step and do something about it!  The caller ID number is usually a ‘Spoof Number” – A Fake!  Never, never, ever engage the caller or call back the number.  The false robocallers will then capture your number as a ‘live one’ and use it over and over and sell it to other scammers.  The same goes if it prompts you to ‘press a key’ to ‘opt out’  of their calling lists, or be transferred to someone, as this will only ‘log’ your number as a working one and make it ripe for future calls and to be sold to other scam companies as well.
The best option is simply to hang up, keep your own list of calling numbers with dates and times and report them to the FCC below.  There is space on their complaint form to list several calling dates and times of a repeat caller.
The DO NOT CALL list is worthless, they do not act on anything, just build a database of numbers.
In order to do something to help stop these type calls, everyone - EVERYONE needs to file an online complaint directly with the FCC.  If they receive enough complaints about a particular number - they will act on it.  Do it today and pass along the info:

Got a call from this number, and was expecting a 607 area code call.  Machine picked up and they didn't leave a message so I called back.  Automated phone system picks up and tells me that someone from their [unnamed] company was trying to reach us.  Gave me an option to speak with someone, or have our number removed, or leave a message.  I chose the option to opt out of future phone calls.  We are on the "Do not call" list already.  I'll post on here again if they call back.

Make NYSEG aware of the call

We have Verizon with caller ID. Also on DO NOT CALL LIST but that is worthless. What I do have is a Panasonic phone that allows us to block up to 30 numbers. I know that sounds a lot but I have had it full and can not add anymore numbers at times. The phone will still ring once but then blocks the call. Still very irritating...Hope someone can use this info. I am sure there are other phones out there with that option.

They called and hung up. I get the feeling it's a scam call. They only called me once, so far.

just got a call. no voicemail. caller now blocked.
