This number has called me several times over the last few days. Never leaves a voice mail.

Received two calls from this number.  " (My name), this message  is from Laurey.  I'm calling in regards to (First and last name of someone I know but haven't spoken to in years)...please return my call at 800-436-6800.  I'm calling back to reference number (8 digit number). Thank you".  Caller sounds to be 20s-40s female of American dialect.

Called me 3x today never left a message then called my dad n said I used him for a reference... For what is the question I have no idea what this person could want.

I'm new to the area... Called my NEW neighbors. Believe they use utility information.

Thank you". The person they said they were calling in regards to, I haven't seen or heard from in 8 years.  Suspect they lifted her name from some old database.

Similar message from above, except it was aman named Harold DuPree calling in regards to Melanie Pelar (I have no idea who she is) wanting me to call the same 1-800 number and gives me a reference number. Glad to know I am not the only one that has received the call!

I received a call this afternoon 2/27/17 from a New York # 607-235-2916, The lady left a voicemail on my phone: she knew my full name and said she was calling in regards to someone I know with a similar name as mine, but no other details, was a lady sounded like she said Terry Force, and that I should call back the # 800-436-6800, she had a fake "fancy/business way of speaking"

Received a call from is number claiming they were a debt collection place and to call them. They never ID'd who they were looking for or anything else. DELETE

Same script as others. Calling my phone at 8 in the morning asking for my husband (who has a different last name) in regards to his sister whome he hasn't seen in years.

Called me in reference to neighbors I do not know or speak to. Wanted me to take a message to them. I  suggested that that was his job to do. It was a man who I believe said his name was Joe.

We kept getting calls for a neighbor who lived down the street from us who we did not know, demanding that we take messages to him.. We just ignored them. They stopped calling after a while.

Called my cell on Tuesday. I did not answer. Caller left a voicemail that (name I did not recognize) had used my name as a reference and asked that I call back. Deleted. Called again on Wednesday. I did not answer; no voicemail this time. Today they called from (800) 436-6800. I didn't answer. Leave me alone!!

Caller tried to get me to confirm information about someone I know. I refused. I think it might be for a student loan.

I have received 3 calls since late January from this number.  2 from a man, the last from a woman identifying herself as Daniel.  Asks me to call 800-436-6800 in regards to a person I barely know.  Only met a few times at church.  I am supposed to reference an 8 digit number.  I want these calls to stop.

The call back number (888-309-0245) shows it may be a collections law firm.  The person they called in regards to is a friend who I still speak to and has used me as a reference only for purchases in the past.  My guess is the company she owes sent her to collections.  I used to work for a collections law firm, and the info they leave can't be very specific if it's not your debt (per FDCPA law).  Chances are your friends put you down as a reference, and now they need current contact info, so they can contact them and request they pay their debts.

The lady knew my name. I don't know how they got my number since it's relatively new. She said they were trying to collect a debt from someone
I know and asked for information to help them contact her. I haven't spoken to this person in two years.

I received the same type of call. They knew my name but wanted to speak to me in reference to an ex in-law I haven't seen in about 20 years. Very creepy indeed. I'm sure that the caller mined that info from Been Verified or Spokeo because that name came up with mine when I searched my sister's name...perhaps the next caller will ask for Rod Serling!

They must have found me through social media and I'm wondering how they got my new number. Scary. Relentless. How can I protect my privacy, let alone the person I barely know.

Get a call blocker which enables you to block entire area codes. Tell the person you barely know to do the same.

They've left numerous voicemails in reference to a supposed associate of mine Hope Sims, someone I have never heard of in my entire life! They left call back and reference numbers. Never answer or calling back. Now they're blocked.
