- Jeff| 2 repliesGot a call today and the guy wouldn't explain who the company was when I asked but put me through to someone else 'to explain the trading system further'. He mentioned something about being an 'investment opportunity'. I said 'is this about trading on the share market?' and he said, 'I'll ring you back Friday and someone can explain further'. What the hell is this??? I am in Australia and the call was from the USA.
- Saint PatThe caller had a very heavy East Asian accent but I was able to catch something about a computer company.I concluded it was a scam and hung up.
- bel| 1 replyjust got a call from this number and i'm located in south east asia. -.-
- MaryAnnthiS IS A SCAM they also call on numbers starting with 023 or 123 I am really getting tired of this think the next time i will answer and blow a referee whistle in their ear.they are annoying calling every hour.
- Caller: unknown
- JeromeI got a call from this number: I confirm that this is a SCAM. I spoke to an operator that pretended he was part of the "Microsoft Windows Support" center and that he had received automatic messages from my computer. You can easily suspect that this is a scam because (1) the operator barely speaks English and does it with strong asian accent, (2) the phone communication is low quality, and (3) the background noise of other operators around him, shouting instructions to other "customers", is so loud that it is impossible that this call could come from "Windows support".
Bottom line, the guy wants you to purchase some software for resolving your computer's problems (e.g. antivirus). See the following chronicle published in "The Guardian".

Hope this helps. Cheers,- Caller: pretending "Microsoft Windows Support"

- Mandie| 1 replyI had the same experience as Jerome. The "agent", who had a very think east asia accent, advised he was with Windows (not even Microsoft Windows), and asked for the Mr (my last name), and they phoned me on a phone # that I have had for month, and it is not associated with any account. He said that they were receving update messages from my computer over the last couple of days. At this point I stopped the man, asked him how it is possible for my computer to send any updates, as it is not connected to any internet source at this time, and how they got the phone # they called on. He started to get mad and yell so I hung up on him.
- Caller: Windowa
- MichSomehow they have my unlisted number and stated they were with Windows. Same issue as Mandie. When I pryed the caller got angry and started yelling at me stating I was not cooperating.
- Caller: Microsoft (supposedly)
- LizThis is getting very annoying. Someone should do something about this. I don't trust anyone who calls me anymore. I have stopped answering any number that I do not have logged into my phone.
- Caller: New York caller
- KiwiWe get calls in NZ several times a week in the evening and its been going on for months. It is just a wierd silence followed by a computer voice saying "Goodbye". Bizarre - and annoying.
- Caller: Unknown
- EastcoasterThey called and said it was from Microsoft and about my virus in my computer. Then I said where are you located if you are calling from Microsoft... uhh we are affiliated with Microsoft. You have a virus. What is the name of the virus? Well maam, the hackers got into your computer and we were notified. So I asked "What kind of computer do I have?" uhh.. just a moment (put on hold) - next guy "I am Kerry Morrison (with a think Hindi accent and sounds of a call centre in the background). "You have a virus! The hackers got your Microsoft Windows". I don't have Microsoft, I have a MAC. Then they hung up on me.
These guys are a scam linked to identity theft reported on the Phonebusters website for the Canadian RCMP. Don't give them any information. They want access to your computer.
Halifax, NS Canada- Caller: claims to be associated with Microsoft - Identity theft scam
- DO NOT CALL Listed NumberGot a call from this number today despite my number listed as a DO NOT CALL.
I am really angry ... I have a plan to make him upset if he calls again.
I am in BC, Canada. - Annoyed With All Of These Calls replies to JeffI just got this call right now!! I didn't answer....I am sick of all of these scam phone calls. If it's not about my computer and some virus, it's about investments or things that I have won!!! Do these scams really work on people?
- Glenn10Same old deal,"Hi I am Shane" with a thick accent. "I am looking to speak with the main user of your computer, I am from Windows an was just notified that you have a virus". When I started asking questions, he became short, and forceully said "just turn your computer on". To which I ended the call.
Pretty lame, but I can see how someone not too computer savvy, like a senior, could fall for this scam. - SarahJust got a call from this number and the accent was so thick that they could not pronounce my business name correctly and it sounded like they were calling from Zumba Media.
- christhey called me claiming they were with microsoft and tried to get me to by software from them. The site they were trying to get me to buy from was instapccare.com. Complete scam.

- Grumpy in the morningI just received a call from this number at 5:30 in the morning EST. I was still in bed and I didn't get to the phone on time. The caller didn't leave a message. Worried that it was something important (most middle-of-the-night or early morning calls are NOT good news) I checked online and found this thread. Grrrrrr.
- stupidJust got off the phone with these people. They had the same message as Jerome,Mandie,Eastcoaster,Glenn10 and Chris (told me I had a virus). He said he was from windows and he was getting error messages from my computer. Not being completely literate in computers I trusted him until he tried to sell me the diamond protection package for 409.00$$.
I feel very stupid know because I allowed him to access my computer to show me the issues. I also filled out the information sheet but could not enter my debit card number because it has 17 digits not 16 like they wanted. He insisted that I use either visa or mastercard and I refused and told them to end the session. - RLJust received a call from 607 324 9764 like others. After the guy informed me that he received messages from my computer of viruses and poor performance, I rudely told him that if I had problem with my computer, I would call for text support. Furthermore, this was intrusive and I was hanging up.\
