Be careful out there people - this person sounded like he was from India and was calling pertaining to a problem with the windows program on my computer - how did he get my phone number?  There is no problem with my computer and what made him think I had a PC and not a Mac.

The area code is in upstate New York.

I just got a call from this number, and I since I don't answer numbers I don't know, I let the machine get it. No message was left though. By the sounds of these posts, it was a good thing I did not answer! Does anybody know who the caller is, or has anyone actually talked to them???

    Cheers

Messages from Alex Ferguson or Sam Bishop -- all Indian/Middle Eastern accents and never leave a message about the nature of the call, just that because of the sensitivity of the matter they are not allowed and that if I don't return their call, there will be legal action and they will call my work and home. Someone please catch these creeps. They call 4 times back to back and from different numbers each time -- then on the last call they leave the message... It is roughly the same time every day too...

Got 2 calls this am about a problem regarding our windows program, first of all they would be calling about Microsoft Windows if it was for real. You can hear in the background laughing and talking. I was told to tell them you are recording their call and report them to the police. Unfortuntley they also call from unknown  numbers. If I don't see the call display I sometimes answer then I will immediatly hang up on them as soon as they say what they are calling about. My Husband answered the phone one day and just reammed the guy out, they stopped calling for awhile and now they started up again this time it is a woman.

These guys have been bugging me for about 6 years (yes, years). They are indeed scammers. These guy DO NOT work for Microsoft Windows. I spoke to a Microsoft rep. They DO NOT have any companys that do this on their behalf. Also, they told me that under no circumstance would they EVER call a customer unless the customer requests it.
There isn't a whole lot anyone can do about it as they are calling from a different country and are govern by different laws than us in North America. Not to mention that they piggyback on other consumers to hide their deception.
I have tried everything under the sun to get these guys to stop calling me to no avail. However, I have come to recognize their numbers. They do stop calling short periods of time. I just ignore them but when I am having a really bad day and they call...Its nice to have some bad people to take it out on.

Caller pretends to be from "Microsoft" saying my computer is reporting errors. Laughably fraudulent. Microsoft NEVER calls anyone for ANY reason. All they want is to gain access to my computer to cause problems and force me to buy their miracle software to fix it for hundreds of dollars. Do not fall victim to this scam!

I got a call from these people 2 days ago, my husband answered the phone and could not understand their very heavy accent so passed the phone to me and because I had some pretty serious problems with my lap top the previous night he gave me the phone saying it was microsoft calling about my problems..... YES I got scammed.  They took over my computer, got $409.17 from my visa and all before I started to think something was fishy.  The moment I realized, I asked for a refund {haha} and he said to be home the next day at 6:30 pm because he would call back....surprise, surprise...no call   BUT I immediately called visa centre and cancelled my card.  Then turned off my modem so that they couldn't get back in, and it stayed off until I was able to get all of the malware and trojans cleaned off my computer  { that they put on my computer}.......still so frustrating.  And who knows if visa will reinburse the $$$.  I can't do anything until it actually posts to the account. {even though they know it is coming, they even know the amount, but it was authorized}  The police were  called, and they told me exactly what happened to me.  They knew it all. So now it is a waiting game.  DON'T GET SCAMMED, yes I am a fairly intelligent person who should have known better BUT their timing was perfect and I fell for it.  They supposedly sold me a lifetime protection against malware and trojans and the 2 hackers the showed me on my laptop......again they put it on my computer!!!!!

I just wait until they finish their spiel then inform them that I don't know what they're talking about... I don't own a computer. lol. I wait for a response *crickets* then they hang up. They still keep calling, and I keep telling them the same thing.

Just received a phone call from this number.  They supposedly had my CLS ID number for my computer.  Said they keep receiving error messages that I have a Malware Infection.  Wanted me to go to my computer and do some things.  When I stalled and stated that I would do this later, just give me the info...there was silence and then they hung up.  Good thing I refused.  Can't imagine what would have happened.

They introduced themselves as Windows Technical Maintenance Department of <company name unintelligible> affiliated with Microsoft (?). I suppose they got my phone number and name (no first name) from the phone book.
In heavy accent (South American?) a male caller says that they received an online error warning report from my computer. They want to provide me with some self-help techniques on how to fix these Windows installation errors.
Immediately I suspected scam. I asked them how could they identify my name and phone number from online errors originating from my computer? They responded that they have sophisticated software that allows them to do so.
I responded that this made no sense and asked repeatedly for the name of their company. When I asked for company's phone number so that I could call to verify legitimacy of this call - they hung up.
I am sorry for others who may have fallen prey to these worthless scammers.

Samething. They (Windows) were getting error messages from my computer. When asked how they knew it was my computer they said the messages had the PCs MAC ID # when I asked them to give me that # they claimed it was company policy not to give that out. I asked for a call back # and empl. Name or ID they hung up. My caller ID showed it as a PAYPHONE.

I answered to say "don't call back; put us on the list." This jack wagon with the Indian accent so thick I could hardly understand began ARGUING with me and TALKING/YELLING over me as I kept repeating to him "no thanks" and "hang up please" and "we don't want any". They mentioned not telemarketer and something about $20 and charity group (again, thick accent!). Totally PO'd to be yelled at on my own phone in my home from this moron. HARRASSMENT!!!!
