Called but no message left.  Don't know number so did not answer.  No message left.

called our number; did NOT recognize it; NEVER  answer any numbers I don't know..wish they would stop tho'

Got a missed call from this number and called it back.  A man answered and asked if it was the XYZ residence, which I confirmed.  Demanded to speak with my mother, whom I don't live with.  Then told me it was an emergency regarding my brother.  I repeatedly told him I didn't live with them but he continued to demand I put one of them on the phone.  Asked if HFS stood for Health and Family Services and he laughed and told me it was for Hartford Financial Services.  I told him he didn't need to get an attitude to which he told me I was the one getting the attitude by asking 21 questions and continued to yell at me.  I kindly told him I would be relaying no information for him and hung up.  I have no idea how he got MY phone number or how he thought it belonged to my mother.  If it is a collection agency, they have violated laws by LYING and MISLEADING who they are and what the nature of the call was.

This call came from Halsted. The person left a message saying that they were retuning my call. Problem is I did not call this person. THIS IS A BILL COLLECTOR.

This guy tried to collect a bill owed by a person named Moise Blumesnipe.
When I informed him that I didn't know the person, he switched his approach and demanded that I let him know what my SS number is. I asked him if he was the same guy who tried to pimp his mother to me from that same number and he replied "make an offer"??

asked to talk to my wife lori said he was going to give her the oppurtunity to pay a dept before a lawsuit is filed and due to the legal matters he could not discuss anything without her consent. After I started asking him all kinds of questions like his name and what company he worked for and there phone number he got pissy with me cause I was asking too many questions and not answering his questions as to where he could contact her and what time she would be home and asked if some bogus number he said was hers which never was her number and tried to get her correct number he ended the call with I'll try back after 5pm and said you have yourself a nice day .... lol

This guy called me and said I owed Citi/mastercard a bunch of money.
When I informed him INEVER had such a card, he offered to let me have sexual relations with either
his mother, sister, wife or daughter if I would foot the bill for transportation to my home. I asked him how much that would be, he then asked for my address.
I thnk his career in pimping will cause he and the rest of his inbred family to starve to death.

These idiots pissed me off for the last time. It's time I had some sick fun of my own.
Google "Soundboards" and find which ones you like to put on your desktop for the next time these jerks call. All you do is see that they are calling, bring up the soundboard, put it on speakerphone & have a blast! It's like when Howard Stern or Crank yankers do the prank calls. It's hilarious! My fav is the Jack black & MJ one. I also do a mean Hank Hill impression too, they hate that stuff.

I received a call from this number and they didn't leave a message and I won't call back any number that is  unknown to me.

sounded like a text message, came though with a name and sayiong underscore dot dot name underscore and so forth. very strange... then it hung up....actually sounded like at one point it was singing it.

This number calls me threee times daily.  I finally blocked the number and started investigating it myself.  This is not a bill collector, market researcher, or anyone in particular.  It you continue t oanswer the number and listen to the sing-song underscore dot message, then you can be hacked.  The person(s) doing this have already gotten infromation from your computer through the internet.  Please block the number and they will be unable to put your phone number with an IP address.  Thanks and good luck to all of you.

Live in Florida--got  this call- no  one answers

I don't want to receive calls from this number, I didn't know him or anything.  Is calling me several times a day.

Already called twice today... did not answer. Please stop.

All your information is on the internet. try Googling your name and you'll be surprised to find out what is out there on you. Lots of dumb people add all of their pertinent information including phone numbers, family and friend information and allowing it to be shared by the public.

Next time they call, ask the person if he/she has accepted Jesus into their heart and go on from there. They will hang up pretty quick! LOL This will also run up their phone bill and it's their nickle.

Calls started about 5 months ago but many days there are 3 calls. When I do answer the phone and say hello- I get no response. I am so tired of these call.so I called the number back. This man answers and he is looking for my daughter. I told him I did not know who she is and he continued to tell me she is in serious legal trouble.Bill collector! Hopefully the calls will stop or I will block the number!

I just got a call from this number today. They told me that they were gonna charge me w 4 different charges from malicious bank fraud to defrauding a financial institution over a cash advance loan from 7 years ago. I talked to one man who said a new law passed that gives the cash advance agencies the right to press legal charges against your when a check to them doesnt go thru your bank acct. He then transferred me to another man who yelled at me and told me i needed a lawyer and i was going to jail unless I paid 1040, which he said included fees and restitution. When I asked if there were any web sites I could go to to verify this he said no...then when I asked him about sending me paperwork he said "have fun with the judge ma'am, goodbye" He continually asked me for my banking info so I could avoid court and jail time...I think these ppl may be looking at ppl's credit reports and trying to act like they are that company to get your banking info...not sure what todo about it....

HOW TO THROTTLE BOGUS CALLS (updated 03/21/2012)

Ok, here's a solution if your phone has a contacts list--it works quite well on my iPhone, which allows unlimited phone numbers for any contact.

Step 1, create a contact named something like these names
            IGNORE JUNK CALL
            SCAMMING SCUMBAGS
            FRAUDSTERS LIST
                         ..... 
            
Step 2, select a SILENT ring type for this contact.  Or, select a distinctly unusual ring tone like
             CRICKETS or                              
             MOTORCYCLE  or
             RIFLE...

This lets you know if a repeat caller is on the line, but I prefer the silence myself.  My iPhone lights up showing the caller ID, even though I have a silent ring.

Step 3. Enable CALLER ID to be displayed for incoming calls that are made to your phone. It's a pity these stealth calls UNKNOWN, or OUT OF AREA, or their ilk, can't be blocked by any phone I know about. My iPhone won't let me put these names where the phone number field is entered.

So, what you do is to put the phone numbers of all bogus and scam callers that contact you, or try to call you, in this special contact. 

Also, unless you recognize a toll free number owner, let all calls of this type go unanswered, and if no 
voicemail is left, add the Caller ID (their  phone  number) into the                    IGNORE JUNK CALL contact.

Also add any other bogus calls
you get or know about, well they go in this contact too.

This may mean also all callers that don't leave a voice mail, or are soliciting you for services or products who you don't have a business relation with. And slime bags you don't want to talk to, like that jerk at the bar, or your ex.

For new toll free and also out of area calls: run these numbers
through Google search to see if they have been reported as junk or have been identified by others as scams.

Don't call an unsolicited  toll-free number back, it captures your own phone number, and you will get on other scam lists to call you.

Toll free numbers all have area codes from this list: codes 800, 888, 877, 866,  and codes reserved for future expansion include 844, 833, 822, 880 through 887, and 889. 

FURTHER: Don't take the default voice mail prompt that came with your phone, because it usually
speaks your phone number and indicates you aren't around to pick up the call and maybe even speaks your name as well.

Record a new one
like "Sorry I missed you, your message will be appreciated".
Friends will know your voice. Scammers, not so often.

My list is long now, my silent ring saves me from tons of spam and scam, and yes, the do not call list is worthless, and toothless as well.

Please feel free to copy this post anywhere, and to any forum. 

Consider writing a letter or email to your phone supplier, or your congressman to fix this awful state of affairs, and to put some teeth into the DO NOT  CALL law. Ask them to shut down the services that allow fake telephone numbers to be used as well.
