    I got a text message on my cell phone, intended to look like an automated text notification from the bank. Here's what it said:
    Beneficial Bank ALERT: Your CARD #4224 has been DEACTIVATED. Please call Beneficial 24hrs line (856)377-0001

    The text came from 609-832-9130, a local number and my first indication that the text was a scam. Furthermore, I don't use Beneficial Bank. Lastly, the number for the bank is another local number, starting with 856. A 24 hr hotline for a chain of banks would NOT be an 856 number, it would be a 1-800 number.

    I just got the same text message. I figured it was a scam. I do wonder what happens if someone calls though. Guess I won't find out.
