- Irritated in Florida| 2 repliesI have gotten multiple calls from this number and they said they are from EDN Magazine so the last time I went to the EDN Magazine website and I got the contact information and called them. They said that they were not doing any active telemarketing at this time and that they had this problem before. The last time they actually had to put a notice on their website letting companies know that it was not them. Today I got another call and demanded to talk to a supervisor. After a short pause a man that sounded quite similar to the one that called came on the line and said that they were in India and they were from EDN Magazine even when I asked several times what company they were calling from he Still insisted that was who they were calling from. So I truely believe it is a Phishing Scam and Personally I would hang up on them every time from now on.
- Caller: EDN Magazine ?????????

- TutI got a call today. I usually don't answer calls from numbers I don't know. If they want to reach me, they could leave a message. There was no message.
- Ben replies to Irritated in Florida| 1 replyDo you work for a family-owned electronics manufacturing company on Ready Ave? They make a lot of PDPs and microwave amplifiers. I have ties there and I've been getting calls from this number nearly every day. I receive an EDN subscription from that company.
- irritated in florida replies to BenHi Ben The answer is no. Our company is out by the airport in brooksville
- HolmesI received a call today claiming that he was calling about renewing my free subscription to eWeek magazine. The guy was clearly reading from a script, because he kept repeating if he could speak to (my name), to which he was expecting a clear "Yes" response. These jokers making these phishing calls clearly want to be able to record you saying "Yes", to which I suppose they edit the recorded sound-bite to use for their own crooked purposes (I suppose).
It very much sounded like an Indian voice, so I asked him to clarify who he was so he repeated the same script and said his name was "Eric". Again, I asked him where he was actually calling from, so he repeats it again, bu this time says his name is "Eric Watson". That just made my day, for that unimaginative last name - guess he must have heard of Sherlock Holmes and his side-kick Dr Watson. So I replied, that I was "Arthur Conan Doyle" (the author of Sherlock Holmes) and hung up on him.
_______________
I have similarly received calls in the past (Indian sounding voice) to renew subscriptions to well known business magazines. They claim to want to verify my address, and have never quite succeeded in explaining to me why that magazine is using a "warm body" to assist me in renewing my subscription, while a regular mailing (email or snail mail) would suffice. They can't seem to explain to me the difference in cost of hiring a "warm body" to speak to me.- Call type: Telemarketer
- BenFigured this was a joke... They called and said they were from Subway Restaurants. Its in the moring and I don't feel like answering phones. Once I said this is the caller and said would you like to get a free magazine subscription?

- EnricaLike the others, called and no message left. Since I don't answer calls from numbers I don't recognize, if someone wants to talk to me, they had better leave a message. Number appears to be from Trenton, NJ. Adding number to my "spam" and no-ring list.
