voice mail from this number consisted of 5 seconds of classical music (flute passage).

They called and left no message.  I called it back and it indicated it was a non working number at Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital in Darby

I called the number back and got a recording: "You have reached an unassigned number at Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital 1500 Lansdown Avenue, Darby, Pennsylvania." Then it disconnects. I looked up Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital and their numbers are in the 610-237-4000's, so who knows if this recording is legit or not.

I got the same call of classical music (flute passage).  Hate that!!!  Some day I will catch whoever make that call.

received several prank calls from this number

I received a call with a message from someone I know but, I didn't recognize the number. When I called the number back I heard the same message others heard about it being an unassigned number at Mercy Fitzgerald. In my situation, that means this person I know is in the mental health crisis center which they have been to multiple times. I don't know if that number is specific to the crisis center but, it most likely is. That would explain the multiple prank calls someone received. I know the person has called me from some several similar numbers in the past, I suspected that it was the crisis center but, the call confirmed it.

So someone just called me from this number but I didn't pick it up so I searched it. Well I wonder how this person got my number what a weirdo.

I now just received 2 calls from this number- looked it up, found this  and so after  reading these posts,  I just called the 610-237-4000  main number, asked operator if she had any idea where specifically this number came from within the hospital   and she informed me that ALL calls going outbound from Fitzgerald Mercy  come up 2701 as exchange and asked me if I knew anyone who was admitted or in ER. Never received a message from anyone from either call ---very strange.

Received a call from (610)237-2701 on my cell and as soon as I picked up and said 'Hello', the person calling disconnected without speaking a word. I suspect someone or some illegit business is attempting to harvest legitimate telephone numbers in the same area and sell the database to marketeers. And also suspect they are masking the calling number cleverly with this number that they know is a large hospital and unlikely to lead to any specific calling source. Not sure how it can be stopped, except to not pick up any calls from any number not in the contacts list. If someone can provide a clue to handling it other ways, would be greatly appreciated.

Just got a call on my cell. Sent it to VM. Message left was just a bunch of beeps, sounded like a fax machine.

just got a call on my cell from this number.  a woman insisted she was calling her phone. but she also knew my name somehow. i dont have my number anywhere on the internet

This is Mercy Fitzgerald's fast track phone. Seeing as it is Philadelphia there are a lot of weird/crazy people that may be able allowd to use this phone from time to time hence the unwanted phone calls. I know this because my wife called me from this phone.

No message was left

Received a call from this number on my cell phone.  It sounded like a foreigner and he asked for (unintelligible), when I said, "Who?", he said, "Sorry, I must have the wrong number".   A Google search shows the number issued to  Dr. Karthik P. Karanam, MD, an internest, at Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital.

The number is legit but can only be dialed from within the hospital any number beginning with 4--- is a direct dial number for Fitz - sounds like someone was calling from an extension that can not be called you would have to call 610-237-4000 and ask for ext. 2701.
