- Gia| 16 repliesReceived call from "Unknown" number of 610-378-5373. When you call the recording says thanks for calling us back. When someone answers the call, they say "Business Office." They ask for your name and/or number. I refused to give them the info because they would not identify what company they were. Well I did little digging on my own. Apparently this is a collection agency for hospitals, physicians, etc. There main number is 610-378-5000. The name of the Company is ACCOUNTS RECOVERY BUREAY, INC. The are located at 555 Van Reed Rd, Peading, PA 19610 (all information obtained from the Internet.) So now you know. Have a great day.

- CeCeReceived call from 610.378.5373. Would not give the reason for call, all that was said was Reading, PA. Left a message with my mother. Nellie called. I returned the call, all I got was an answering machine telling me the "Office" was closed and the option to leave a message for Pamela. Sketchy...How did they get my number? I don't want them calling back!

- tired| 1 replyI have been receiving calls from this unknown number 610-378-5373 for over a year. They will in the morning, afternoon, and evening. They are very unprofessional, but we are know collections is a mindless job. You don't have to be skilled, just rude. Sometimes they block their number so that you won't know who they are. Their company name never shows up on caller id. They are a collection agencies for hospitals, doctors, etc. The thing about this is you will already have a payment arrangement with the doctor and they still send your account to this collection agency. It doesn't make any sense.

- mpanico| 3 repliesI have been receiving calls from this number or ones similar for about a month. They also call my grandparents. The people are rude and are acting in inappropriate ways. I called the number back, and like "Gia", heard a recording. When someone answered, they answered as "Business Office" and refused to give a name or why they were calling. However, the woman who answered asked if I was ______ (my name) and when I again asked who I was speaking to she stated that she doesn't know who she is speaking to and she needs that before she can say. I responded, neither do I know who I am speaking to, so I will guess that we are even, at which point she hung up on me. When I called the company number on the web site, 610-378-5000, a woman named Melanie answered. She was nicer, hoever, I asked for her fax number, she gave it to me, then proceeded to inform her that I will be faxing over a letter today, requesting they not call my phone, but only communicate with me through written letters. I also let her know that if I continue to receive calls of the same sort I have been receiving, I will be calling an attorney and see about filing a FDCPA claim against their company. That got a curt response and a "I'll give it to my supervisor when the fax comes in."

- knannie replies to mpanicoOneway that I have found that really annoys them is by repeating what they say right back to them. Them after you hang up laugh(knowing that you annoyed someone that was annoying you feels good ).
- DeathToCollectionScumThe # on the caller-ID shows 610-378-5373. They call and leave the number 800-220-1622 for you to call back but with no other info. When you call the number back, they answer the phone saying only "Business Office". Asking what business or who is calling is met with a nasty outburst of "we can/t/won't tell you".
When I informed them that they were calling a business and that personal calls were not allowed, they became even ruder...demanding a home-phone! I told them that any communication(s) they wished to make should be in the form of a letter only. You can guess the response.
My company has the ability and technology, so, I now tape my incoming calls, including my continued demand that they not call. Our corporate attorneys have taken over for me and are behind me 100%.

- auntie beeeReceived a call at 815am. The name on th caller ID said Acct Recovery. Since I did not know the number I let it go to voice mail. I called the number back. An recording answered saying thanks for returning our call, please hold. An EXTREMELY rude person answered the phone, and demanded to know who I was. I very politely stated that I wanted to know who she was, and the name of the business. She became belligerent, so I asked to speak to her supervisor. I was told that the supervisors were busy, so I'd have t just wait. She then proceeded to hang up on me.

- Tina Marie replies to mpanicoI get these calls early every Saturday morning and it pisses me off. I have to get up early Monday through Friday...how dare they call me at such an early hour on the weekend!
I'm wondering if the faxed letter worked?? I would like to try that route if it did. Thanks for the information!! - MindyDon't know what to say. I have had to deal with these people once before. First time the woman was so nice to me, but the second time I got the belligerant man they call a supervisor. You think these people would actually wnat to get thier money back not act like jerks to the people they get on the phone. Now I have some girl with a sleezy little voice calling asking for my husband and acting like she knows him. The least they could do is let you know who they are and why they are calling. They will never get a positive responce from people who they treat like crud.

- blondiegot the same call they would not tell me who they were they wanted my s/s # and address or the last 4 numbers of my social. they would not answer any of my questions, and they call all hours of the day and on the weekend!!! they r rude!!

- SheilaI got my first call (that I know of) from this number at 8:30 am and they hung up on my answering machine. I called the number back and got a recording telling me to hold and someone would be with me. Within seconds, I was connected with a female with a heavy Hispanic accent. I couldn't understand what she said when she answered the call, so I asked who they were, but all she would say was "Business Office". I asked again and she got nasty, wanting to know WHY I was asking. I told her that someone called my house at 8:30 am and hung up on my answering machine and I wanted to know who it was. She then mentioned my name and said something about a hospital that I have never been treated at. I told her that and she then mentioned my husband's name, but he has only been treated there once and that was a visit to the ER about 12 or 13 years ago. The bill was relatively small and was paid right away, but even if it hadn't been, the Statute of Limitations would have expired about 10 years ago. I kept trying to tell her that she was wrong, but she kept getting louder and louder trying to talk over top of me, so I ended up screaming a few choice words and hung up on her. Now that I know what it is about, I will be ready for the next call and simply tell them that I want proof in writing. Once I get that so that I know exactly who they are, I can send them a nice little letter quoting the SOL for VA and the FDCPA laws and finally shut them up for good.

- feliceI reported this ignorant collection agency to my doctor and my doctor was shocked to find out how rude they were to his patients. If this agency harrasses you, report them to your hospital or doctor with a complaint. Doctors and hospitals want their accounts receivable patients treated with respect. It turns out we didn't even owe this money, and yet they were still calling. The agency is Accounts Recovery Bureau, 555 Van Reed Street, Reading, PA. 19610. 610-378-5000. Shame on them for running such an unethical business.

- Dont owe you moneyI had a judgement from the York Hospital and I defended myself. I had a huge pile of bank statements showing my payments made which I use to do online. York Hospital was trying to say I owed them over 800 which was not true. I made payments and was down to only 200. The judge seen all my bank statements and York Hospital admitted that it looked like I was making payments but there were unsure where my payment was applied. Long story short, a continuance every 3 months for over a year was done until finally the judge settled and gave an amount for me to pay which was 300 more than I owed. Now 3 years later, I go to buy a house and find out that accounts recovery bureau is saying I still owe almost 300. This is crazy. The girl I spoke to said that any payments around the time of my judgement are not being considered, only payments made after the judgement. Does anyone understand that? I asked for a copy showing the amount they say I owe; they are refusing to mail me anything. They will not satisify the judgement. I dont know what else to do but they are being very unethical. Where are our rights at?
