Ask them for an IBR- income based reduction- or another of their loan services to keep you out of default. A lot of the customer care ppl are really nice- they want to help you.

    Bugged for no reason
Woman calls claiming she needs to talk with my husband. She is terse and unwilling to speak with me. Her number shows up on caller ID, so we don't answer anymore. Will be blocking her again. Supposedly they collect on defaulted student loans, but he never had a student loan.

If they truly work for the government, they would know how to find the person who's defaulted.

    I think it's clearly a scam.

Called and asked for me by name.   Said I was delinquent on a loan - 158 days.  Asked if my social ended in 9111.  I graduated from college in 1984 - debt free.  Paid for school.  Have never had a student loan in our immediate family.

Scam collector company. I don't owe them anything I do have a student loan but it's in forebearance. If you are having problems paying, while you can't get it discharged in bankruptcy, you CAN include it in Ch. 13 reorganization - and the interest and fees will stop. YOu'll have to pay it all back but it will be in manageable payments IF you can't get any other repayment plans. Call your loan servicer directly, not these clowns!

They call all day and into the evening, since 2 weeks ago.  I finally called their # this morning and their answer recording asks for my SS# or ID#.  Didn't give it of course.  I "googled" the # and got this info.  I never had a student loan, so it's totally a mystery to me.  Wish I could stop their relentless calls to my home!

This is ECMC. Every rep that i have spoken with has been very nice. I wish all my debt collector's were this nice. Seriously, if you're in default they have a really good debt reduction program. I just have to get my current creditor to work with us, which is navient. Good luck y'all Remember communication is the key word here, most will work with you, if you're having a hard time paying back.

ECMC is a legitimate student loan agency and they can collect, garnish, etc on defaulted loans and they will call. However....there are many scumbag scammers out there that present themselves to be ECMC when they are not so  beware. If you have a student loan  you are behind on, call your loan provider directly to work out a payment schedule.
