Robocall pretending to be some company's service department. Call back did not go through. Seems to be a fake number.

Robo call taking a survey

Someone talking about a 5 day trip, so I hung up before I heard the whole story.

I want to find out what company this?  5 day vacation package and the fact it was an automated voice that claimed to be a real person pisses me off.  That and it came over on my work number which I don't give out.  I want to know who sold my number to this company!  I will gladly stop doing business with them!

If you ever posted your phone number on a social site, or used it when ordering online, or typed it in an insecure computer, or gave it to a friend whose computer was attacked, or filled out an entry form at a fair or a supermarket, or used it on a contest entry form, or put it on a postcard for a magazine or purchase, or were among those whose information was hacked from some organization, or obtained a "new" phone number ... your number is probably known to the scammers.

Allow me to present another possibility in a very simple fashion ... not to insult your intelligence, but to attempt to get the idea across to even those who have difficulty understanding more complicated answers.

If you answered "yes", that is a good start.  Try counting from 1 to 10 now.  I will wait.

I want you to think "0" instead of "10".  Got it?
Now, get a piece of paper and a pen or pencil, and write down those ten numbers.  Here, I will help you, in case your forgot:

0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9

Now get ready to write down some more numbers.  I want you to write them down in the following format:
ABC-DEF-GHIJ
Yes, I know those are letters, but I want you to use numbers, instead.
Think of a number between 0 and 9 ... pick one from the list I gave above, if you wish.
Write it down, instead of the "A", above
Do that nine more times, writing it down instead of the other letters.
Now, look at the result.
Does it ring a bell?
It should, because you just wrote down a phone number!

Mr Computer is very good at making numbers.
Mr Computer can do what you just did in a fraction of a second.
In other words, Mr Computer can make and dial phone numbers VERY quickly.

Spammers and scammers who know about Mr Computer do not need to register and buy the DNC list.
Spammers and scammers who know about Mr Computer can even dial "unlisted" numbers, or "private numbers" or "brand-new numbers you just got"!
The DNC list is not a magic switch that blocks these calls from reaching your phone.  It is merely a list.  It is NOT a call blocker!

There, now you know all about how spammers can dial YOUR phone number, even if it is unlisted, and even if only relatives know it, and even if it is on or off the DNC list.

I hope that helps prove the DNC list DOES work!  It helps prevent calls from registered / legitimate telemarketers, but it is not able to stop calls from telespammers.  It is also NOT designed to stop political callers (who usually get the numbers from voter registration lists), calls from charities, or some other companies, such as debt collectors; or companies with which you have done business in the last 18 months.

Robo call telling me I won a 5 night all inclusive stay in Orlando because I'm over 28 and have a credit card. Tried waiting it out to tell them to lose my number, got impatient and hit 0 - makes the recording hang up.

The government is not in the business of connecting or blocking phone calls. It is your phone company who should be blocking robocalls. It is legal for them to do so. The government has asked them to do so. They don't want to spend the money. You get the hassle.

this call has been coming through a lot. I just ignore this as I'm sick and tired of seeing these calls.

5 days vacation?!! What kind of crap they pulling ?? Give these [***] fake info about everything! These f**s called my cell phone, and I blocked them!

Several calls from unknown number all hours of the day.

Heard Nothing.  They're lucky I was unprepared.

call came in to my business phone 4 times in a row, but they immediately hung up before I could answer.

Called my cell phone. I didn't pick up and they didn't leave a voicemail.

Called my cell phone. I never answer any call if the # doesn't display from my contact list. Left no message. Blocked.

Called my private cell phone.  I didn't answer, they did not leave a message.

Called my cell phone.  I didn't answer, as I was driving, they did not leave a message.  Blocked the number.

Automated voice telling me I won a cruise trip for 2 to the Bahamas. New number scam calling me every once in a while. Usually never the same number. New number and scam message every time. Same old annoying crap.

Didn't bother to read any of your post, just wanted to tell you that based on its length,  you need to get a life. Seriously.

Just a couple of digits different from another number that calls almost daily.  I never pick up the phone, but I wish these gnats would stop calling, I'd have to pay to block numbers.
