Scammer? Call didn't even go to voicemail yet and the person hung up.

It's the Republican Party calling to get your votes.  Not sure how I got stuck on their list. :/

That would make sense. I just got called but no one was there when I picked up. Caucused back in 2012, they probably got my number from that.

Someone calling from the Republican Party for a quick survey.  Sounded like he was calling from a bar...

Just called me and when I answered they just hung up...

waited til i said hello 2 times and then hung up

Said his name was Simon, when I asked who this was and said he was with RPS Surveys.......then hung up!

He called me. Actually sounded drunk. I said "hello," he mumbled something unintelligible. I said "who is this?" and he mumbled some more, as though he was talking to someone offline. This went on for a minute, then he finally apologized and said he was with the Republican party. I replied, "That's a real shame, I hope you recover soon," and hung up.

Come on people be real! It's not any political party cause they would ack like that remember they are trying to get a vote!! Not piss people off! It just some scam!!

Called today and hung up after I said "hello" twice.  I've also been getting calls from people who say they are going to service my computer; I had two of those in the past two days.  STOP calling.  Take me off your list.

I guess it is no longer surprising to see how many people signed up for something ... but they did not read the words in the agreement.

So, here is a short educational post, suitable for people with short attention spans:

The DNC list is not a magic switch attached to your phone line, that will block calls.

The DNC list is intended to help stop calls originating from legitimate telemarketers.
* Your calls were not from legitimate telemarketers.
* Therefore, the DNC list will not stop those calls.

The DNC list does not automatically block calls.  Instead, it provides a list of  "do not call" phone numbers to legitimate, registered telemarketers who pay a fee for the list.

The DNC list exempts political callers, survey organizations,  charities, and companies with preexisting business relationships, as well as debt collectors, but these organizations might have their own, internal Do Not Call list (ask them).

The DNC list is not effective against criminals, spammers and scammers, because those people do not subscribe to the DNC list, and do not care if you are on or off that list.
Its purpose is to stop calls from legitimate telemarketers, and it does a pretty good job at that.  Just think ... if there were no DNC, you would be receiving incessant calls from BOTH legitimate and scam telemarketing callers!

Remember, the FCC's Do Not Call site is a good one to report unwanted calls from LEGITIMATE telemarketers.   To report spammers and scammers, visit the FTC site, at https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/

If you receive calls even after reporting them (and waiting a sufficient time), then you should consider using a call blocker app, device or service as your first line of defense.  Google "call blocker" to see such things at Amazon or other sites.
