Got this call at 8:30 pm. No voice, no tone. Nothing.
Since they are doing this to others, I am reporting them to the CRTC.

Received a call from this number Monday evening, they did not leave a message.

Calls up and asks if so and so live at the residence.
The woman at the other end said she was with the Canadian Cancer Society.
They were supposedly calling in order to recruit more door-to-door harassers.
I have no idea if this is true.

since I am being plagued with all these scam numbers, I am not answering the calls, and am thankful for these web sites revealing what they are, thank you, and keep reporting please !!!!

Did not answer. Didn't leave a message. 9 calls out of 10 are scams and cons. What's the point of having a landline

received a call Feb 10, caller ID shows CCS Ottawa.  No msg, left.

If this is supposed to be Cdn Cancer Society recruiting for canvassers, then it might make sense: isn't the month for that coming up in April? time for daffodil sales, etc?
If it is, one can't report them to the 'do not cal' list because of charitable status..seems they can keep calling.

...to add you to their internal do not call list, they must oblige and stop calling.

Interesting, I marked as spam and forwarded to Lenny (thanks VoIP!!!) but no message and the call lasted a whoopong 8 sec. So...who and why is calling?

It seems likely that this is the Canadian Cancer Society as others have posted. Please note that they are required to keep 'dead air' calls to a minimum, so if they call and the line is dead - YOU CAN STILL REPORT THEM. Just be aware what you're reporting them FOR.
