This number called and someone asked my wife to confirm our address. My wife asked who is calling, and the other party hung up. we called back and the number was disconnected.

This number called and when i got the phone no one answered and then they hang up. I tried to call back, I had a message saying that this number was not in service

Got a call from "Québec loisirs" regarding our subscription. BTW, our subscription was cancelled  the week before... Kind of aggressive marketing...

Got a phone call from this no. today but when i answered, nobody talked... i heard noise in the background... and i just hang up...

Aftrwars, i tried to call back that no. and it said that there was no service at that no.

Kind of worried right now..... who are these guys and what are they after ????

A pre-recorded message let me know that "I've won a cruise"... yeah, right. Then they asked me to press "9" to collect my prize or "8" to get removed from the caller list. I hanged up.

Never. Never. Never follow those "press a button" prompts.  You could be letting a caller use your phone number to make a linked 'overseas' <long distance> phone call. You may find thousands of dollars racked up on your phone bill. JUST HANG UP

For over a week now the same tel # keep appearing on my phone 613-232-9826 and when I try to call back there is a recorded message that the phone is not in service. Today, Monday Jan 14th, 2008 my husband was home and they spoke to him in French which he doesn't understand too much and they were asking info about me...

Please just either don't answer or just hang up!

This number was on my caller ID. I researched it and it brought me to this site. Luckily no one was home.

Same here, got a call, didint have time to answer it, and when i called back it said it was not in service...

updating you.. This is a number from a Collection Agency NCO Financial

I am told they use such number when in instances like me.. I have a privacy block, (does not accept call from unknown numbers and people must identify themselves first or call doesnt come thru)

Well, I just got the call and I didn't answered because I didn't know who was calling and at this time of the year especially, I'm trying to avoid phone harassement so... I just missed that "bad" phone call. How fun ! :)

Just to mention, it was the same phone ID : 613-232-9826

613-232-9826 CallID - Call repeated several times at approx 4pm today. I just hung up.I get a Fax tone attempting to connect to my non existent Fax machine.
When I call the number back, I get a not in service message.
Bell should have the no call service - at no charge - soon.

Perhaps the message you're hearing isn't a BELL CANADA recorded 'not in service' but simply THEIR answering machine with their own 'not in service' recording? [The Bell recording has a distinct "voice"]
